Video Gurus!!! HDV Camera question!!! NTSC/PAL!!!

editing system and configuration has to be set to ntsc which is pretty easy.
However if you want to play it on tv afterwards you are gonna or could have problems.

For the internet though nothing cause you can switch your comp to NTSC pretty easily.

Does not matter PAL or NTSC if you convert with software and put on the web. TV's. DVD's etc is another story. Anyway you cant see 1080i footage on normal TV without distortion..:-) Bravia here I come !!!

if you are using it for web only video, you won't have any problems, you'll just need to set your editing software to NTSC when using that camera. You will not be able to play tapes from your NTSC camera in your PAL camera, and vice versa.

Ntsc

I have heard Europeans say this many times... NTSC = Never the Same Color Nevertheless, I have been using an NTSC camera for webvideo in Europe and never really experienced any problems. Are you planning to publish your vids on DVD?

NTSC consists of 525 lines and 30 frames per second (29.95 actually)
PAL consists of 625 lines and 25 frames per second.

You can not play PAL on a NTSC player and vice versa.

You're better off with NTSC than PAL as it is more widely used.

you have to output to Pal then very simple process.

Multisystem

I also think that a lot of Europeans have players capable of playing both NTSC and PAL as opposed to US customers who might only have NTSC capable players. (VCR or DVD) But you can encode your videos into the two formats. Just make sure your customers are aware of what kind of format they want to buy.
