Registerfly - The Real Deal
Not sure if this has been posted....
Registerfly On the Fly So who is Registerfly? Are your names safe? How would you like to know the real deal? During a phone conversation between an undisclosed contact and employee of Registerfly, it seems as though the truth is surfacing and it's filtering in from the employees of Registerfly. Brief History Registerfly was started originally with two partners. One was Kevin Medina and the other was John Naruszewicz. It's been said the Kevin was the one who actually built the interface of the site and is more so on the development side of the customer interface while John had more of a financial contribution to the start-up of the company. It's my understanding that Kevin was always the more laid back kind of person that did his best to respond to the customer while other employees in the New Jersey location had a kind of .... screw them type of New Jersey attitude. We are all familiar with the problems at Registerfly and the biggest problem of all is the fault of their system. Support tickets have gone unanswered because of failures in their system. Outsourcing to Pakistan About two years ago Glenn Stansbury, VP of Operations had this brilliant idea of outsourcing their customer support to a Pakistan company. Without going into great detail, the Pakistan support company did very little for the problems that already existed in Registerfly which at the time was their support. On top of it, Pakistan employees often had to get counseling due to the calls they were getting from very angry people around the world regarding these domain names. So eventually, Registerfly fired the Pakistan company and brought the support back to the USA. The reason for this was due to the failures within their system of registering names and renewals. The support system they were using would allow the support staff to view the content of the ticket in one frame but the subject line of the ticket was available in another and not on the same page. So when someone submitted a ticket with their domain name in the subject line and didn't mention it in the content of the ticket, it would make matters difficult to track down and repair. This was a system fault. Infighting Between the Partners Above and beyond the problems that were due to system failures, both Kevin and John had some major disagreements that cause a plethora of other problems. These disagreements led to the attempt from one partner to remove the other. However, the partner that maintained control over the registry with all the passwords and data, refused to release any of this information to the partner. Therefore, everyone in the company is blocked out of accessing the registry or any of the data. Moving to Florida Kevin decided is was time to get away from the New Jersey employees and open a customer support office in Miami Beach, Florida sometime in November of 2006. It was the intention to break away from the mindset of the New Jersey employees and open this customer support office to handle the customer issues. At the time of opening this new office in Miami Beach, support tickets were piled up for weeks. They forwarded the phones and Glenn was the only officer from the New Jersey location that came down to actually interview new employees and hire a new crew of support staff separate from New Jersey. The Current Problems Although I don't know exactly who is doing what, it's been said that Kevin Medina has been working diligently (hands on) with people to correct bad situations. It's also been said that there are people within the company that are making changes to problems that are fixed and unfixing them... literally, sabotaging the company. With the feud between the partners in the company, things are falling apart at a rate that they aren't going to be able to recover. Currently there are bank accounts that are frozen so employees aren't being paid. Although many of the employees of Registerfly would like to help you out, they are unable to assist due to the hacking being performed people within the company. The reason the Registerfly customers aren't getting any assistance is because the customer support team is locked out of the back-end management functionalities of their Registry by the partner who is trying to sabotage the company. "This has been going on since Monday! The company cannot control its systems. Even worse, the support rep indicated that they fear the alienated partner is trying to hack and destroy the domain registration databases. It is an incredible situation. Infighting at a domain registry jeopardizing over two million domain names and preventing customers from even being able to make minor changes to the domains they own." - undisclosed source My Take on the Mess Being the administrator of this site, I receive emails from a lot of people. From employees of Registerfly, to ex-girlfriends of appointed officers, to people that know these guys as individuals, to ex employees and just about everyone else. From the light that's being shed on the whole thing, I believe there are big problems with the partners that own Registerfly. One ones 51% and the other 49%. Kevin is the majority owner. Now, Registerfly has been very quiet about what's been going on and the CEO Kevin has not made any type of statement. This whole debacle involves a lot of money and a failing relationship between partners coupled with many system failures. Based on everything coming in from this, it's a castle that is crumbling. There's one side of the company that is trying to fix issues and has remained quiet and there is another side that is trying to bring the company down. Which is which, well I can't say that for sure. Either way, Registerfly is on the way out. I can tell you this. Large bank accounts are being frozen. Employees of Registerfly aren't being paid. It's a very messy situation and the fall of Registerfly is closing in. For those of you who have domains with them... and I know there are some of you that have 10,000 domains with them in one account. What's going to happen?... who knows. Rest assured that your names are not safe with what's going on between the partners. How can you get them out... who knows. Registerflies.com This site's main purpose was to offer a place for people to go and express their concerns about a very awful and pathetic company. Our purpose here was to take a stand against very bad support and fraudulent activities by an ICANN accredited registrar. This site is living proof that you can't hide from the internet and when people come together and speak out, things actually happen. Where do we go from here... Well, I'm not exactly sure. New information will be released within the next week and it will be big news coming out of Registerfly. They have more problems internally that most of us care to know about. The Registerfly Debacle will be coming to a close very soon and it's been the communication via the internet that has made our voice heard. Kevin Medina - CEO There has been a lot of blame aimed towards this guy because he is the CEO of Registerfly. Is he solely to blame?... At this point, we don't know. It very well could be that Kevin is the good guy while John is the one causing all the problems. The most important thing to understand here is that all of our domain problems have been due to complex system failures and should not be taken on a personal level. Kevin is one man and there are departments within this company for billing, the risk group, as well as others. It just may be that Kevin has delegated certain aspects of the company and jobs within the company out and the infighting going on with him and John has caused many of the problems that you and I see on the front end. Could the CEO or VP made a statement regarding this? Sure they could have and hopefully we will hear from them at some point. Is Kevin guilty of not responding? Sure he is. He carries the title of CEO and has remained quiet about this whole thing. Based on what I've heard, by nature he is a quiet guy... does this make it right that he's not addressed these issues... No. Recently one of our members actually talked to Kevin and based on what he's stated below in the comments, Kevin was very helpful... and yes, the Kevin you were speaking to is the CEO of Registerfly... hands on and trying to fix these problems to the best of his ability. It's been said that Kevin has become numb to the screaming and shouting from the customers. I've been told he is aware of the problems and as he fixes them, someone in New Jersey is unfixing them. I'm told that Kevin is actually a nice guy and this is coming from the mouths of employees that know him and work with him. They say he is working hard to save Registerfly but it's not going so good and it doesn't look like Registerfly is going to be able to pull out of this mess they've created. For those of you who have a personal vendetta against Kevin Medina... until all the facts are in, we should not attack an individual and focus our attacks on the company and making this public knowledge. Our problems are due more to complex system failures within Registerfly and the fighting between these two partners. Summary Many of you who have domain names have loses due to Registerfly that amount to a lot of money. Many of you are also angry with Registerfly but please be angry with Registerfly and not the employees of this falling company. Many of us have been so angry that we've been foaming at the mouth over our domain names and websites... please don't direct that anger towards any one individual. It's easy to do but this is a bad business we're dealing with that's being run into the ground and it's sad that many of you are being taken down with it. |

From the perspective of a business owner there is no excuse for not answering your phones and letting customer support issues go unresolved. He took money from people with the understanding that he would provide a service. RegisterFly has failed to provide me (and all of it's clients) with the service for which we paid.

I think I have about 5-10 left there and they should be out this week or ICANN is going to have to settle my issues for me
When I started using them, they were the best in terms of ease of use, price, amount of TLD countries it took & even support was good for me. How the F*CK they can screw that up in little time, I don't know - but I still think they should sell it to someone with a clue rather than drag it to the ground and grind every last bit of it |
