Getting a super-fast computer custom built?
Anyone build their own computers or get some built? I always just buy new or refurbished Dells for all my workstations, and I have had great success with that. But I need a super-fast pc built just for video encoding now (without extras like a monitor, lots of extra RAM, keyboards and software).
I think the best price/performance ratio for this would be a custom built machine with one of the fastest new Intel processors/motherboard like the Intel Quad Core and what ever is compatible with it. Anybody have experience with companies in Florida or elsewhere? |

Just go to your OEM store and choose your parts... they'll probably put it together for something like $50
You'll save probably 20 % in the pricing of the equivalent computer on pre-built ones... and a lot more if you get it custom built at futureshop. |

build it yourself. it's easier than making kraft dinner and it's way cheaper than buying one that is already built. Just go on the internet and take a look as what ppl are offering and what is compatable with what processors, etc. go to a smaller store and get the components that you need and put it together yourself. It'll probably take you two hours the first time that you do it, but it will be worth it and then the next time you need a new comp you can bang it out in under an hour guaranteed.

Building your own is the only way to ensure quality.
