Sinful Magazine article on some idiot named dj airek
http://www.sinfulmagazine.com/issues...es-djairek.htm
In our ?Personalities? section, Sinful Magazine usually interviews people whose work is related to the Adult industry. But in this edition, we wanted to honor someone who inspite of his age, is already recognized all along the West Coast for his entertaining abilities: DJ Airek. No doubt a name that most of you have heard before (mainly if you are a club goer), and whose personal photo collection you will definitely appreciate! (All photographs shown in this article are part of it, and you can see that he has some really cute fans!) SINFUL MAGAZINE: How old are you? DJ AIREK: I will be 35 years old on August 5th, 2005. I've been lucky enough to have been preserved. SM: Where did the name Airek come from? is it your real name? What, your mom didn't like you? DJA: Actually no. When I first started DJing in 1990 or so, I was a horrible DJ. My stuff sounded like two trains colliding in a dark middle of nowhere. My mixes were horrendous crashes of acoustical mayhem in the air. So, I created this named AIRWRECK, meaning everything in the air was a wreck. Once I became a flawless fatality of mortal musical perfection, I dropped the WR and the C and kept the AIREK which rhymes with my real name ERIC. It all worked out. SM: When and how did you learn to DJ? DJA: I actually taught myself how to DJ. I have been a drummer since age 6 and have never read a note of music in my life. From 3rd grade on, I have been aggressively involved with marching, concert, and pit orchestra. To make a long story short, I saw other DJs making a mockery of the speaker systems and knew I could do a better job. So I got my own decks, and got at it till I made it work. SM: Is this a full time occupation for you? DJA: At one point it was. I have traveled around the world DJing. I actually have made a very nice amount of money with it. I still continue to travel and DJ as much as possible. Music is my life and I will do it until I die. The greatest thing I have experienced with DJing is being able to travel and meeting other DJs that do it for their main source of income. I have been the opening DJ for many of the bigger DJs that travel the world. SM: What are your plans for the immediate and long term future? DJA: My immediate and long term goals are very parallel. I will always DJ and produce music until I can't hear anymore, or I am taken from this earth. I am planning on attending Burning Man this year in the artist capacity. I've always wanted to do it, and I can't wait another year. Normally, I am booked in Las Vegas during that weekend, but I have blacked out my calendar for that weekend specifically to attend Burning Man. I would recommend that anyone in touch with their spiritual side take the trip to Burning Man. And look for me. SM: What clubs have you DJ'd at? DJA: Oh My God! Wow! I have DJ'd at an estimated 125 to 150 nightclubs on many continents, with the majority of them being in Asia, South America, and the USA. I regularly DJ in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, and not so much in Los Angeles, but I do like to do house parties in this city. SM: Which one of those clubs has left you with the best memories? DJA: I would have to say that the most memorable experiences of my entire DJ life are in San Diego and Brazil. I DJ'd for 11 straight months in Brazil, and it was one of the highlights of my life. Traveling around a gorgeous country, meeting beautiful women, and having the time of my life. I think that I slept about 24 hours the whole 11 months in Brazil. As for San Diego, we ran a club called Glitter that was by far the best club to ever exist in San Diego. Ultimately, it was shut down by the city and the nice people in the Vice department at the SDPD. When you have venues so popular, it is inevitable that the drug activity will destroy it. This was the time when GHB and Special K stuck their ugly heads into the club scene. Fucked everything for us. SM: Girls like guys in charge, and the guy behind the turntable is definitely responsible for the mood in the clubs, so: do girls jump on your lap on a regular basis? DJA: Yes and No. It's kind of a game. You need to be able to identify the ones that want free shit and club entrance and free drinks from the ones that actually appreciate what you do and what you stand for. I have had my share of casual experiences with hot girls. I would have to be an idiot to not take something that is willingly being given to me. I have, however, met some bad girls that have caused me major drama. Its a balancing act. Now, I tend to stick with the girls in each city that I know aren't going to fuck up my life and just want to have fun, repeatedly. Brazil was the best. They are very Europeanized. It is not uncommon for girls that just want to jump on you and do what they want to you. I have enjoyed promiscuity, and believe that sex is a very healthy part of our lives. Enjoyed safely, there is nothing wrong with a little Bump N' Grind, to quote J$tyle$, and is the name of my trademark event which was just launched here in San Diego at Cybernet-Expo. SM: Have you DJ'd adult events? Which ones? DJA: Yes. Many. I began DJing in the adult space in 1998 I believe. At that time I was with Busty-Amateurs.com and we were the first people to take DJing to the convention floor and the suites? afterparties, etc. I have DJ'd at The Players Ball, and at least at one party for every show since. We just released Bump N' Grind at Cybernet-Expo, which will become a signature event for adult webmaster conventions. I have also DJ'd at numerous private porn parties at the homes of many industry leaders. Joe E. and Rick Muenyong to name a few. I will continue to practice my trade in the adult space. I have too many friends here now to quit. SM: Any message for your fans? DJA: I say just strive to do what makes you happy in life. No matter how bad things have ever appeared to me, music has kept me going, and when I am on the turntables I feel free and with a purpose in life. Share what you've got with the world, be it whatever skill it is. Never perpetrate. Don't hate the players, hate the game, and remember, the highest form of flattery is someone else biting on your shit and trying to take a piece of your game. Don't be an AIRWRECK! SM: Any anecdotes? DJA: What the fuck is an anecdote? Hahahahahaha. SM: Thanx Airek... It?s been extremely nice chatting with you! |

Sorry, those articles are no longer on the blog. we sold the actual magazine, and they ended up closing it down. but we retained the rights to the domain name, and just changed it to what it is now.
