Looks like a great ad for BMWs. Can't buy that kind of publicity

Damn my Benz is capped at like 138 mph..

When you do Cali to Vegas drive there is some nice opportunities to really open it up..

You can feel the engine wanting to go faster but no luck..

What year is it? I had heard they were capped at 155 but that could only be on the new ones I guess.

That video rocks :thumbsup

I heard a bunch of newer cars are all capped at 155 mph, I don't know why. That's like 250 kph, it so damned fast, if you're going that fast, what does it matter if you go 300 kph, instead. Most vehicles can't reach that top speed, anyway.

BTW, WTF was that dude talking about saying the corvette engine has a computer chip (in fact, I think he said "it is a computer chip" ha ha :1orglaugh ) that makes it faster than what the public can get?

Also, I thought the 15 yrd old made a good move (a fake to ram the car), and it fucked that experienced guy right up. What a move! Not saying it's ok to steal cars and run away from the cops, but damn...

qdtobbe 08-04-2002 08:36 AM

yeh its me who stoled the car ! :)

Most new German cars are capped at 155mph but this can usually be bypassed.

I've seen that programme loads of times before, if they had caught him they would have shown the kid being dragged out of the car and arrested.

And BMW (as much as I don't like them) are famous for their reliability, German cars as a whole are the best built.

I put 30k miles on my M3 and aside from maintenance the only problem I ever had was the fucking left front fog light kept blowing out.

In fact, after a lot of 100-120+ mph runs between AZ and L.A. the engine just got better and better.

The footage is definitely the same. The kid was smart too, notice where he made the U-turn gave him 2 options to get away (right after the overpass)? He out-smarted the cops.

Also, when that cop wiped out, he pulled in towards the kid first, before pulling right and then off the road. Makes me wonder if it wasn't the cop who tried to scare the kid first.

Yeah, I love rooting for the bad guys in car chases LOL

That was pretty good.
You guys should check out www.racingflix.com if you want to see some nice car vids and www.superbikes.net for bike vids. Some crazy ass shit on those two sites.

Its a 2001 clk430 funny thing is that it would only go 138 or so.. I had a 2000 clk 320 and it was capped at 138 too..and I thought when I went to the 430 since it was v8 I would be able to go faster but no such luck.. The cars want to go faster cause you can feel it and I guess you can remove the cap but it voids the warranty. Maybe the v12 can hit 155

Jag I had was also capped supposedly at 155 but I didnt get it going fast enough.. car broke down twice in 6 months so I dumped it.. lesson learned though.. jags dont hold their value.. buy mercedes.. Jag lost like 15k in 6 months in its value.
