FIRST, a disclaimer... I probably see more posts and threads than anyone here on GFY, it's my friggin' job after all. It would be much easier to give a "Top 50" list as such for me. But, if I had to narrow it to just 5, as a "must read", it would go something like...

I am always surprized when I make these lists and too embarassed to acknowledge them. Because of how most business threads flash away down the page, I rarely post anything technical except in answer to specific questions. Mostly I write about things which don't interest many people and to my knowledge, I have never persuaded anyone around to my point of view

It's sad the way it's easier to come up with the nicks of people who are a complete waste of space. My good guys list included Shap and Mark Tiarra without having to think, then I pretty much got stuck.
Smokey comes up with some stuff I could follow better if it were written more in "...for Dummy's" style. Among the prolific marketers, sarah_webinc gets a mention because some of her threads bring me news from home and when Paul Markham's threads aren't hijacked by the short-bus brigade, they can get interesting input.
polish_aristocrat (on XXX) and Jace (on RSS) have been working their soap boxes well recently...Comment

I would include YOU in my short list jayeff, not so much for the helpful aspect (not that you're not helpful mind you), but more for the common sense factor you bring to many discussions, and well-worded insight that I've come to admire and appreciate (and relate to).
Rinaldo has some moments of brilliance as well from time to time.
Smokey is quite consistant as well.
Several others have a good command of the tellitlikeitis-speak as well.
I've always loved the posts of those who can effectively cut through the poor attitude of others and the BS and overdone drama etc and just get at the heart of what matters in any given argument, and point out what's really going on. In my view that is one of the single biggest "helps" this or any board can get.Promote Wildmatch, ImLive, Sexier.com, and more!!

I appreciate the compliment, but that really isn't true. If you got that impression from a couple of recent blogging SEO threads, I should put you straight...
SEO stuff actually gives me a headache and for at least the past 5 years I have tended towards the belief that unless you go full-on black hat, it's easy to put in more effort than the return will justify. I do think it makes sense to build all the commonly recognized basics into a site and still more sense to stay clear of the equally well-recognized no-no's.
Unfortunately, the online porn industry being as it is, we prefer the ease of using tables to taking the time to learn CSS. We see an SE-friendly concept such as blogs, strip it of all which makes it SE-friendly and still kid ourselves we are running blogs. Because natural/organic linking is difficult, we somehow come to the conclusion that blatantly manipulative link exchanges will work instead.
So it isn't difficult to point out the common pitfalls. But that's a long way short of knowing the topic well
