Redirect or Virtual Site ?

I'm curious how many of you use domain redirection for your domains or if you setup a virtual site for each one. If you do a virtual site for each one is it for SE reasons?

Virtual Sites are better for search engines if you have seperate IP addresses.

If your host uses named based DNS then it's a waste.

I could very well be wrong but I thought I read where SE spiders had been changed due to the overwhelming number of virtual hosts. I assumed that it didn't matter anymore if you used the same IP for 100 domains, is this not the case?

Spiders still look at IP Addresses. If you have a host that can give you different class C Ip addresses your better in the SE ratings.

I am mobing to using virtual sites for almost all of my domains. The exceptions are similar domains I have bought (very few) just so people won't buy up my variations. (Argh. Hate that.) In the past, I had redirects for any domains without their own distinct site-- but still used virtual for all real sites.

Using a virtual means...

...Easier head-space. I remember where it all is. URLs and linking are easy. Etc.

...Search engines like me more. I love the search engine traffic. MMmmm. Googlicious.

...Looks better. People never get some other URL reported as they click around. They can bookmark, etc. The redirect methods I know don't allow for anything like that.

Spiders check if sites linked on a particular page are on the
same IP.. that's why crosslinking isnt really that effective anymore.
