Upgrading my processor.....
I am getting "AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ Toledo 2.4GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket 939 Processor"
right now I have an amd xp 3200+, i think this new one will blow it away rendering and encoding video on this 3200 is just a chore and a half, I need something way more powerful |

Do you notice a real difference between the core2 and what you're currently using (assuming it's amd)? Trying to decide if and when to take the plunge.

I have a bunch of amd computers but the intels are faster now and cheaper, so my newest computer used intel. I just go with which ever is a better performer.

I just couldn't dispute EVERY review site out there basically saying that for the money the C2D machines blow the AMD rigs out of the water for a lot loss money. I just had to switch from an AGP video card to a PCI express, along with buying DDR2 RAM, an ATX 2.0 power supply, a new motherboard, an SATA hard drive, etc.. I ended up not keeping anything from the old tower itself. Got a fancy new Lian Li aluminum case to boot. It uses 120mm fans instead of 80mm so it's a lot quieter. |
