Going to the movies, is it worth it anymore?

Tickets for 3 people - $28.50
Popcorn and Drink Special - $11
Nachos and Drink - $10.50

Now, I don't mind spending money for movies, I LOVE movies....but when half the shit that is coming out of Hollywood these days, can theaters really justify me going to the movies and paying $50 for 3 people to enjoy themselves?

We just saw children of men the other night and it cost that much just for us to go in and sit down with some snacks, all for a movie that left us saying "what the hell was that?" at the end.....and this is the 3rd time in a month this has happened. I know hollywood is trying hard to break from the norm and create some interesting movies that don't follow the traditional rules of movie making so that we can have some diversity, but this is getting ridiculous

anyway, done with my rant...LOL...i can say this though, after the past few months of movie going I can see why downloading movies is growing in popularity so fast

Hollywood charged you $30, the rest was the theater. ;-)

Sometimes I'll get a medium Coke for $3.50, but thats about it. When we were kids my mom always made us sneak in snacks, I still do sometimes LOL. Its hard not to when Target is next door with a box of Oreo's for $2.50.

I only go to the theater for the big epic movies anymore.

Since most theater food is crap, I eat beforehand.

Oh yeah, and those airline size bottles of Bacardi are easy to smuggle in - order a medium diet coke, pour a couple of those Bacardi babies in, and enjoy the movie...

well, then theaters are going to drive hollywood right out of business

I remember years ago friday and saturday night were THE nights to go to the movies, if you didn't get there early you wouldn't get a seat....this past friday we went and the theaters weren't even half full, and this was for a big time new release

How else are the movie studios going to pay Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt $50,000,000 per film if they dont charge that much?

It's rarely worth it anymore, why would you want to spend that kind of money on something that you can just wait a few months on and then watch it in the comfort of your own home?

Save it for the movies that just aren't the same without a giant screen

Go when its a blockbuster and its best to see it on the big screen, otherwise buy the DVD and save the rest or rent it. Netflix!

I really have to want to see a movie to go see it in the theatre. they charge too much, the food is expensive if you buy it and I always seems to end up in a theatre where people talk. I'll just wait for the DVD and watch it at home on the big screen in peace and quiet.

I rather watch a movie at home with some friends than going to a theater
if you have a good setup, it's all good

saves a bunch of time, you can rewind, pause if somebody needs to take a leak
and most of all, no stupid people around ... that mainly killed it for me
the day they allow people to kick the shit out of annoying people in the theathers, i'm going back hehehe
