In summery the reason the supreme court of Georgia wouldn't overturn his sentencing is because the law was changed the changes did not allow them to apply the new law retroactively. A state senator is working on a bill that will help to change the sentencing guidelines for people sentenced under that law before it was change. In short, it will let the judge go back and re-sentence him without having to stick to the mandatory minimums. It looks like this senator is is really focused on this, so hopefully he can get it passed and get this kid out of jail.
