Is there a difference between SATA II and eSATA ?
I'm looking at extrenal drives, something I can use for working with video, and I don't know if there is a difference between these two SATAs.
Anyone care to shed some light on it? Thanks, DWB |

If they're connecting via USB or Firewire you won't notice a difference. If your mobo has SATA connectors at the back, then go with SATA-II; if your board supports it.

eSATA is SATA. the signalling is identical. However, eSATA has a redesigned connector that is said to be more tolerant of being connected and disconnected often and the cable length can be increased from 50cm for internal SATA to 5m for eSATA cables due to increased shielding.
