No offense meant here, but I'm a mom too, and I take my obligation to take care of my children seriously as well. If I was so broke as to not be able to afford to get into a new business without denying my children their neccessities, I'd go out and get a job I DID know until I was stable enough to be able to invest in something that is an unknown factor.

Just a friendly hint, because your desire to learn and your tenciousness are refreshing... DO some research and LEARN before you throw everything behind something like a business investment (because this IS a business), go out and get a job to support your family while you do so.. It's sort of like going to school. There are a ton of great resource sites out there to help you on your way. I'm sorry you feel you got shafted, but forwarned is forearmed.
