fact: the whole USA gambling hardon that the gov has is bullshit and even to a certain extent Vegas and state casino driven

The rest of the world is about to step in on this. Can't wait for the WTC to decide that enough is enough.

America is losing face to the world, when it was once a great country that everyone admired.

While I think it is bullshit, the fact remains that online gambling in the US is illegal. I think people should be allowed to blow their money any way they want, but when you know that it is illegal and still engage in it, you have to take responsibiliy for breaking the law. Just like China's anti-porn laws...if I go over there and start shooting porn and get arrested, it's my fault for doing something illegal in that country.

I know that eventually (once the brick and mortar casinos here put enough $$ behind it) we'll see regulated, US sanctioned online ambling, heavily taxed and producing income...it just sucks to have to wait for it...and the fact it'll squeeze out any smaller companies because the lincesing fees for something like that isn't going to be cheap...

IT IS NOT THE SAME EXAMPLE

Here's an equivalent example: You go to China in 2008 to attend the olympic games and you get arrested for allowing in the past chinese surfers to access your sites.

how would that sound to you?

That's not an equivalent example.

This would be. You used to shoot porn in China, the government found out you did. You left and moved back to the US (or somewhere that porn is legal to shoot). Then you went to China in '08 for the Olympics. You shouldn't be wondering why you're getting arrested.

I don't understand what part of this people are failing to understand. If you are doing business with US citizens with US credit cards and US bank accounts, then you are effectively transacting business in the US.

Just because you are from another country, or your company is located in another country, it does not give you the right to break the laws of ANY country where you do business.

If not collecting VAT were a criminal offense, a lot of US executives and business owners would be arrested in the EU when they visited.

For years Germany has been sending letters to people in our industry telling them to either stop selling porn in Germany or face issues if they are ever caught in Germany. Just because they've not enforced any of the letters yet, that doesn't mean they can't or won't.

I can also promise you that all of these people, ESPECIALLY the ones with sportsbooks, KNOW and UNDERSTAND that they can and probably stand a good chance of going to jail if they are caught in the US. I don't know a single gaming company that hasn't heard the Jay Cohen story, and if you read down a few paragraphs in the 2002 article he wrote, you'll figure out just who the "Largest sportsbook in England and Ireland" is in relation to this thread.

If you visit the website I posted above, there are not many options for him to go to. Either northern africa, russia or china. I would not go to china .. I bet that he is going to moscow. I hope he gets there in time.

but what i dont get and maybe my brain is fried or i just am not thinking right, but when a chinese guy visits a porn site he gets arrested if he is in china at the time.

The china government doesnt take action against or arrest the owners of the porn site and if they did, would the US allow china to extradite? well neocons might

but these gambling entrepreneurs are being arrested and when theyre off US soil and not the guys who are doing the gambling

even if the country where you live has one then it's not like you will be sent to the us the first in the morning. usually whatever you did has to be illegal in your country too, plus ya have to be of some profile, i.e international drug dealing.

but get this..... the US govt already thought of that:

(from above link):

"The UK government has indicated that extradition would only be considered if conduct is illegal in both the UK and America. But some industry watchers noted that the the indictment against BetOnSports includes allegations of tax evasion, which leaves open the prospect of an extradition of a UK gambling executive based on tax-related charges."

so this is why usa is making tax and money laundering accusations, to get around extradition problems. FUCKERS!!!!
