i have a laptop and for some godforsaken reason it doesnt come with an network card for cable modems blah blah blah...are there any differences in PCIMA modem cards or do they all do the same damn thing?

Fuck yeh, they're completely different bro. I have a different card for my modem, and another card for my cable connection. The modem was like $80 at the time, cable was around $120.

my advice is this

don't get a network card with a dongle get one of the fixed ones that the cable plugs right into.

If you are anything like me and sit with the laptop on your knee while you watch tv the donlge ones will last about 2 months max.

better yet get a wireless one, its great

There are laptops that don't come with Ethernet as a standard port? Guess I've been using Macs too long... I forget about those of you on the wrong side of the tracks.
