If he didn't want to call I would then suggest.
Faxing his CC (cover digits apart from the last 3 or 4) aswell as a drivers license if he failed to do this I would respectfully decline his account. I would then avoid running to gfy to spill my guts about what happened :2 cents: |
Little Jack Horner sat in a corner
eating a mincemeat pie. He stuck in his thumb and pulled out a plum, and said, "What a good boy am I." |

I don't think you're being unreasonable at all.

what am I missing here? a scammer is ordering a dedicated server exactly why?
|
9 out of 10 online dedicated server orders (for us) are attempted carded/scams/etc. orders. There are certain order signatures we simply don't even reply to any longer, as they are always a scam.
If a customer is not willing to sign/fax in a contract and such, then they likely are not worth doing business with in the first place. There are exceptions, but they are pretty easy to see a mile away most of the time. Basically, too many in this business treat it as fly by night. We're here for the long haul, and to do that we must protect our exposure to fraud. I've been bitched at and cursed out for requiring someone to fax in certain documents, but at least we found out the type of person they are before they became an actual paying client. Thanks for weeding yourself out! In any case, you did the right thing :) |
are you being unreasnoable? NO you do what you want... he can always look elsewhere...

Don't often agree with you BD but you are spot on this time. I would of notified the CC processor as well to make more investigations.

Anyone new ordering over $300 from the stores is looked at closely at before the order is put through, if they do not look kosher we contact them.
If we are still not sure it's payment by wire. |

Nope. Not unreasonable at all. I've been with two hosting companies that required the faxed CC and drivers license thing. It REALLY pissed me off at the time, but in retrospect it makes sense.
Refusing a simple phone call just screams scam. I wish mine had been that easy. :2 cents: |

I wouldn't do it. I think you're being completely reasonable.

Seems pretty reasonable for me...
