Can anyone suggest a webhost that can handle 100k/day TGP?

Mine isn't going to cut it...I sent 4000 to p0rn.us yesterday in one hour and it was dragging major ass

I have a large traffic TGP that I'm going to need some hosting for....

...any suggestions?

I can tell you what you need.

2 dual xeon 2.8 or better servers. One for mysql and one for the web server and maybe mail.

Bandwidth shouldn't be too much but the custom servers, set up and management will get you around $600-849 a month for everything.

If you need a reliable solution like this then check out: www.dwhs.com

How can you tell him what he needs based on what he said? He didn't even mention the scripts he's running. It would be impossible for him to be any less descriptive in his post.

So I would really like to know how you can say "You need this and this" when he has essentially told you jack fucking shit. You just mention the processors, nothing about memory, drive type, drive capacity, operating system, web server software, etc, etc... Why does he need a dual xeon to serve the pages? Why a dual xeon to do his sql stuff How many qps is he doing? ? Do you know if he even uses a mysql driven script?

Some of you host vultures need to slow down and ask some fucking questions before you start shooting out your "advice".

p0rnus, my advice to you is ignore all the idiot sales reps _UNLESS_ they ask you some fucking questions. If they say "Yeah we can host your 100k tgp no problem, come sign up right now" you should fucking RUN.

Of course, they are not all idiots. There's a few of them who really know their shit and hopefully you will hook up with one of them. So far in this thread I haven't seen any of them.

If you are serious about hosting your site and not getting ripped off or having your traffic decimated then tread lightly. Like I said above, if they are just making offers without knowing anything about your site, ignore them. I'd even go so far as to tell them to shove their offer up their ass.

Prolly all of them that offer dedicated hosting. That is provided you order the right server and package of services. I use ServerProvider and am happy.

A 100K TGP isn't all that much assuming you're not trying do a ton of streaming video....

Here's the bottom line. What you pay for what you get in service. If there is a problem, do you have a phone number to call to get a live person 24/7. If you have 100K in traffic, you can't afford down time, cause that will kill off a portion of that traffic!! So how fast can problems be addressed? At 100K visitors, hard to justify something exotic like a mirrored server on the other side of the country.

100k its not something one server can't handle. Even with comus or st on it there shouldn't be any problems unless you do a lot of auto cropping.
http://www.adultxspace.com/dedicated.htm can handle your traffic
Hit me up on icq with details about your current usage and we'll get you setup.

Sounds like a little overkill for just one 100k TGP, I'd not recommend the smallest virtual account you can get, but this machine is certainly overpowered for the job

a single dual xeon machine with ~2gb ram and scsi drives can handle that load. I know off the top of my head one 100k-120k/day mpg that does this and the load is never above .3 Running comus and epower.. both applications that just use mysql.

icq me I can arrange a good deal for you

Memory and hard drives are part of the managed area that the host would assess and not effect the price. I would say 2-3 gigs on the file server and 4 gigs on the Mysql server.

You can cut corners left and right but real businesses will lose out in the long run. What I mean is if this is a business I would protect it with the right set up, even if it is a little more then what's needed. Or you can go cheap and risk killing servers and being vulnerable to attacks.

I should mention that if this is just for fun then go ahead and squeeze it onto a cheap set up. I was just thinking it must of been allot of work to get up to 100k a day and that you would want to protect it correctly.

You really have no clue.

I have run 300k a day thru a p4 2.8 with 2 gigs ram before the only way he would need even one dual xeon for a 100k a day tgp is if he was running really fucked up software.
