If the name isn't back-ordered and it is due for deletion pretty soon, you can probably pick it up for 8.75 at Namewinner. If Namewinner wants more, odds are that other people want the name too and you'd be better off using Snapnames depending how bad you want it. I have a script checking 200k of domains daily and i will send the list over expired and deleted domains, still listed on Dmoz and yahoo to my mailling list.
I also have a system where all the expired domains are being checked, so that the webmasters get a mail when a domain has being deleted. That system is allso free for my maillinglist members.
