Who does their own taxes?

Who does their own tax or goes to an accountant?

If you do your own what software do you use?

If you go to an accountant how much % do they take and is it worth it to you?

Any body use H&R Block?

My mom worked for the tax department here in aus, so yes i do. It not that hard, as once you have the gist, it doesn't really change all that much annually.

I have up until this year. I got an accountant last summer, and she'll do them this time.

I can't tell you how much it will cost me, because the only thing I have been billed for thus far is when she did a will/trust for me. (she is also an attorney)

I use Quickbooks and print off the P&L to give to my accountant. She usually charges me about $200. If I had to give her everything (receipts, etc) and not the P&L, it would cost a lot more.

I have used HR Block online for years doing my own personal taxes. It's pretty straightforward. I've gotten a note a couple of times and an extra refund check when I've made some error or other, but I dont rememeber what it was.

The system lets you go back and forth and print everything out for review before you submit the final result. When I owe, I just pay it right there with my CC online.

Taxes themselves arent very hard to do by oneself, it's finding loopholes where you get to keep more of it legally where an expert would be worth the money.

$2,500 flat-fee.

ICQ me if you'd like his number, he does my personal taxes AND the company's taxes.

If I was doing just a simple W2, I would do it myself... If you own a business, you should really use an accountant. For a % of how much this cost from an accountant, I know my accountant charges a flat fee for personal returns.

I would use an accountant over one of the fast return places, just to make sure everything is correct and the person doing the return has had more then 40 hours of class on tax returns.

Just my 2 cents.

I think HR Block online is like $45 for fed and state. Deductible on next years of course.

I usually do them myself.

This year I will have an accountant do them.

Next year, if my business pretty much is a mirror reflection of this year, I will go back to doing them myself using the 2006 forms as a guide.
