    Turn A BMP into GIF?

Ok, I lost some files over the course of time, between moving servers and having hard drives crap out on me. One graphic for one site I want, and I don't have it. It is a gif file with a transparent background. I went to the webarchive site, I can see the damn file staring right at me - but when I save it, it will only be saved as a BMP file. (my cache is fine, it is just this fucking site!). So I saved it as a BMP, and tried to convert it back to a gif file in photoshop - but the option box for transaprent background would not be allowed as an option!

So, can someone explain how to do this in laymens terms? Or can you figure out how to get the gif off that site?

I even tried a "File > Save As" - normally that gives you all the shit on the screen - all I got was htm files (lots of them, too)

IE is crap - download Opera and it will save it as gif.

Damn! - just installed Opera and it worked. Fucking cool!

FletchXXX - I thought it might have been my cache files being full, but that wasn't the case in IE.

                  Big thanks to GFY

It's not your cache, its temp internet files, I was just saying clear your cache in addition.

Fuckin' A! THANKS! That worked. Thanks edmo

FletchXXX - yes, I tried that originally - I run into the temp files error occasionally, at first I thought that was what it was.

kosmic - I am not a PhotoShop ace - I am sure it could be done, but I didn't pull it off.

Within InternetExplorer, click: Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced then check "Enable Image Toolbar" under "Multimedia". Restart your computer.

Go to http://web.archive.org/web/200106101...es/logo_ho.gif and right click the image. You'll be able to save as a gif!

(while I worked all that out, I see edmo gave a quicker solution).

Just checked - I already had that opyion checked. Weird, but luckily the "save target as" did the trick. I also wound up getting a bunch of recip buttons off another one of my sites, too
