Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has openly called for Israel to be wiped off the map.
"The establishment of the Zionist regime was a move by the world oppressor against the Islamic world," the president told a conference in Tehran on Wednesday, entitled The World without Zionism.
"The skirmishes in the occupied land are part of a war of destiny. The outcome of hundreds of years of war will be defined in Palestinian land," he said.
"As the Imam said, Israel must be wiped off the map," said Ahmadinejad, referring to Iran's revolutionary leader Ayat Allah Khomeini.
His comments were the first time in years that such a high-ranking Iranian official has called for Israel's eradication, even though such slogans are still regularly used at government
rallies.
Addressing about 4000 students gathered in an Interior Ministry conference hall, Ahmadinejad also called for Palestinian unity, resistance and a point "where the annihilation of the Zionist regime will come".
"The Islamic umma (community) will not allow its historic enemy to live in its heartland," he said in the fiery speech that centred on a "historic war between the oppressor and the world of Islam".
The term "oppressor" is used by the clerical government to refer to the United States.
"We should not settle for a piece of land," he said of Israel's pullout from the Gaza Strip.

answer what question? i dont have an agenda and i am only usually trying to defend logic and reason. you have an agenda. you are insecure, paranoid and have issues with authority... and use these types of issues to point the finger and say "see... i told you so" so you can rationalize and affirm your own misguided beliefts and go on about your day to keep worrying about the government conspiracy to suppress the tin foil hat making industry.
what do i think about Iran? i dont care. when you have a fervent supporter of terrorism start threatening to destroy its neighbors, shut out the rest of the world, refuse to consider any diplomatic solution and continue trying to make a nuclear weapon (after lying about it for over a decade) and telling the UN basically to fuck off... one might consider it reasonable to expect consequences.
at the end of the day, its Isreals security problem. pretending there is a diplomatic solution or making uber retarded arguments like "if Isreal wouldn't continue doing [insert jewish stereotype here that ignores all other sides of the issue]" then Iran wouldn't still be an unstable theocracy, ran by extreme fundamentalists who have absolutely no interest in joining the rest of the western world in peaceful co-existence isn't going to solve the issue.
I hope Isreal bombs their facilities. The world will not be a better place with a nuclear Iran. EVERYONE agrees on that. The UN agrees. Their traditional allies agree. i would doubt the report you read is based on any solid intel, that does not mean i think its unfounded.
in 81 israel bombed iraq, taking out a nuclear reactor sold by the french to saddam. israel bought the f-16s from usa but the f-16s were built for iran and we backed out cause of the iran hostage deal. we offered them to israel. israel had planned the iraq bombing for 2-3 years and there was no leak.
anyone who says "israel plans nuke attack on iran" is probably 1/2 way right, but they likely didnt hear it from israel.
also. it didnt require a 'nuke' to take out the iraq reactor and likely would not for the iran nuke program. they may be talking of using "depleted uranium" used in "bunker busters"
