Main stream news wont be mentioning much of this..But the bill they passed last night in the house and which is expected to pass the senate today officially places us into a dictatorship.
Once Bush signs this you can be taken from your house, tried in secret, all property seized, executed in secret, suspension of Habeus Corpus. Not to mention the torturing of you, your children..etc.. It widens the definition of "terrorism" for a third time to include basically anything. Yelling at politicians is one of them. The Patriot Act is already being used all over the US to arrest and detain, without charge, journalists, strip-club owners, the owner of a toy store for having unlicensed rubix cubes..on and on. But today's extension goes beyond all of this..nevermind that it exempts anyone in the Bush Admin from any future prosecution for war crimes/illegal wiretapping etc..retroactive to 9/11. For those of you that might be listening to main stream radio/tv and come back with "Oh, they can only do this to enemy combatants" Nope, as soon as you are detained they can revoke your citizenship so that you are no longer under the protection that your citizenship affords...or used to. The police can now come into your home without your approval and if you even tell anyone that they came you can be arrested...on and on.. |

After researching the new law, I have to agree, our most precious constitutional rights just got tossed out the door and the government gained enormous power to basically do whatever they want with total impunity.
Although, it obviously won't be widely deployed in the worst way it could. The fact that it is on the books is troubling. The new law gives the President and government agencies the ability to label anyone a "threat" to the United States, and operate exactly how a dictatorship does by stripping anyone they want to nail of all their basic legal rights entirely. Scary times indeed.

here in australia last year or early this year there was a "terrorism " law passed , basically the same deal , they can come arrest you hold you with no charge , torture you , killing you wasn't part of the deal
however you are aloud to make one phone call to a relative letting them know that you are ok , but you can't tell them where you are or why you are there otherwise the relative can be thrown in solitary confinement for 5 years the only lawyer you are aloud to talk to is one that is on the list made up by the government |
