The Hoteliers Association were spitting chips year or so back when the gov banned smoking in pokies rooms. Revenue is starting to head back up again but it was interesting stuff.

I'm old enough to remember when casinos were illegal in Melbourne, which meant lots of blue haired grannies went on bus trips interstate to lose all their money.

I know why they don't want to move away from it, but regardless I think they should. If someone really wants to gamble than they are going to do it, and I guess they should have the right to do so, but I think like alcohol in Australia an irresponsible culture is developing, and having these things situated everywhere is just one example of that.
