There is absolutely no way you are powering all that from that socket. Do you have any idea how much electricity that would have to pull to power a fridge, 2 space heaters, 4 APCs and whatever varios other lights and radios you have running?

50-100? More?

Depends on the rating of the heaters.

Not to mention that extension cord would be melted by now.

JD 01-06-2007 02:33 AM

lmao n1 man. down with the power company assholes!

Red Ezra 01-06-2007 02:37 AM

they will just burn you out with a fire or something - dont start a war - be smart

borked 01-06-2007 02:47 AM

Dude - be careful about continuously drawing electricity from that light socket...

Lighting cable is a smaller diameter (1.5mm2) than power socket cable (2.5mm2) because it isn't used to draw a tonne of current. If you start pluggin in your fridge, puters, cooker etc etc, then the wires is gonna get awful hot, melt the insulating sheath around it and start an electrical fire somewhere in your building.

Then you'll have one big fuck off bill to pay.

So the HOA is making the person in Unit 3 of every building pay for the "community" lights which we all also pay an HOA assessment for. Pretty damn slick. But the secret is out now and I am going to make sure the whole complex knows our HOA is screwing us over.

And when I do finally get around to paying that bill and the bullshit deposit, its going to be paid in pennies. And then we'll see about getting those fraudulent disconnect/reconnect fees taken care of.

Motherfuckers, you may have won the first battle (and only because you had the element of surprise on your side) but motherfuckers I will win every other battle and the fucking war.

i can't believe how dumb people are in this place.

not only do you do insanely stupid shit that you have no right to do.... but you go on public record, include elaborate explanations and photos.

You're not very bright, are you? The breakers for most central AC is usually two 30 AMPs, same with an electric furnace, same with a range. You could prolly plug 50 lamps into a 15 amp outlet and still not blow the breaker. You can run two 800 watt space heaters off one outlet and not blow the breaker.

Just get a 1/2" piece of copper pipe and hammer down the ends flat. and bend it a bit so it will fit in the slots. Then simply plug it into where the meter was. Dont worry about getting shocked. The electric flow will only pass "through" the pipe and not into your hands. Just grasp it firmly and push it in. There you go full power for free. :thumbsup

OMFG this thread was entertaining

Masterchief 01-06-2007 12:15 PM

But yeah, the power company doesn't fuck around. I called in to cancel saying I couldn't afford it so that I could possibly get a cheaper rate and the fuckers came out and shut me down the same day. And, then required a hefty deposit to reconnect me since I said I couldn't afford it.

Moral of the story: Don't fuck with utlity companies :)

beemk 01-06-2007 12:17 PM

here all they do is take out the meter and turn it sideways, it pops in just like a plug. when i moved in they shut it off before i turned it on and they couldnt get someone out to turn it back on so i just did it myself.

For those that are interested, divide the watt value of all the appliances on a circuit by the voltage in your area (120 in US, 230 or 240 in europe) and that will give you the maximum current on that circuit.

Then make sure your circuit breaker/fuse is rated at least 20% more than that value.

As a general rule of thumb (remember it's a rule and can change if your wiring is very long)
For 1.5mm2 wires that pass through a wall, never pass more than 10A through them
For 2.5mm2 wires that pass through a wall, never pass more than 16A through them

borked 01-06-2007 12:34 PM

And it's very very easy to steal electricity.

What's more difficult is to tap electricity - that is, leave a few basic circuits on the main metered circuit so as to have a 'normal' bill, but have the big consumers on a tapped unmetered circuit.

Thats why I miss the county. Hell, out there, no one would notice if you climbed up the pole in the middle of the night and connected your cable. Here, they'd have 10 calls into the cops before I even put the ladder up to the pole. In the country, one could actually make a tap relatively easily, esp. if the wires between your meter and the pole (the service drop) was buried underground, and that part of the wire was in your back yard. Most states even have a number you can call and they'll come out and mark the location of the wires for you, then all you have to do is (carefully) dig them up and then (very carefully) splice your connection in and put in an underground junction box.

DWB 01-06-2007 02:49 PM

Good for you.

pocketkangaroo 01-06-2007 02:53 PM

I still don't get how you are able to power all that through a light socket and a couple extension cords. There is just no way you haven't blown it out by now.

Sly 01-06-2007 03:00 PM

Has it never occurred to you how much needless drama you have in your life?

Do a quick search over your threads. Problem after problem. And I doubt these are even *all* of your problems.

Some people. Holy shit.

pornguy 01-06-2007 03:00 PM

better be careful, they have a wee bit more oney to spend on attorneys than you do.

They don't fuck around either when it comes to utility theft. I know in Chicago they will prosecute you the same as if you stole something from a store. If it gets over a certain amount, it turns into a felony.

Replacement of the energy distribution panel was done today to enhance safety and to provide for additional capacity. This one has a breaker that will pop if the load is too high, which happens if both heaters are on, the fridge is running and the laser printer tries to print something.

baddog 01-06-2007 06:13 PM

I am going to love reading the saga of "the man is out to get me, they burned down my house" or "the man is out to get me, I just got out of jail."

Should be entertaining.

PAR 01-06-2007 06:50 PM

Ok so you had a problem with your bill being sent to the wrong address.. that part I understand and the part were you get to find out that the outside lights were being paid for by you and that the HOA was getting anyone in unit #3 to pay the extra bill... that part I dont get is how you think its ok to steal from who ever is paying for your lights in your storage closet.

I pay for cable once when I watch the advertisements. I should not have to pay for it again. Remember how cable was sold to the American public as the advertisement-free medium for entertainment when it was started, much like satellite radio is today? Back then, when it was ad-free, I did pay for my cable. These days, if it is accidentally left on when I move into a place, I am in no hurry to call the cable company and inform them of the mistake.

Oh yeah, and this Classic Minusonebit Thread deserves a bump.

What did your apartment complex have to say about a resident paying for the outside lights? Did you end up telling everyone else too?

pocketkangaroo 10-20-2007 06:48 PM

The only thing this thread does is show that you are a crook/thief/scammer. Not sure I'd be broadcasting this.
