:mad Fuck you Register.com

Im trying to transfer a domain with them away to another registrar.
In order to approve the transfer I need some "AuthInfo" which is some confirmation number or shit.
this would be fine if it would be easily accessible
but no... you have to call them during their business hours...
i am on the stupid support line for almost 25 minutes already and have not yet talked to a human being as I am STILL ON HOLD
this is ridiculous

I just went through a process like that with directNIC. The key, I guess, is to find out what the registrar's policies about transfers are BEFORE registering hundreds or thousands of domains with them.

ICANN's policy now requires an EPP authorization code for all .COM transfers. Previously, it was just for .ORG.

This applies to all registrars.

However, some registrars make it very difficult to access that code.

I have found Register.com to be a tough company. Their customer service department is mediocre, maybe this has something to do with its remote location in Nova Scotia.

I always recommend Moniker!

Ouch. That isn't super cool at all Trax... the "AuthInfo" is actually the EPP code (Extensible Provisioning Protocol). It shouldn't be hard at all for your registrar to provide... My recommendation is to send your registrar an email from your email address of record requesting ALL the EPP code for ALL of your domains.

If you were transferring the domain names into Moniker, you could then send along the list of domain names (with their respective EPP codes) that you wanted to transfer, and your account manager would be able to take care of the transfer for you... It should be the same for whichever registrar you prefer... Cheers!

I have found register.com's support to be heavenly compared to some other registrars. cough, namecheap, cough. At least they have a real phone number!
