    Hey guys, well I decided it's time for a new laptop, so time to sell my old one. It's not even that old. Still runs like a beauty, so incase any of you guys are looking for a lappy at a descent price...

    Make sure you take out, or format the shit out of, the hard drive or some hacker will buy it and get all your passwords and stuff that you deleted.

      should i just put in a whole new HD? or how can I clean the fuck out of it, and not leave a trace?

        a simple format i think is ok,i remember in ms-dos period, you could see with an HEX editor some info left after a format, i don't remember what short of info were left and if this is still problem.
        Make sure to delete all your partitions before format and not just format them as they are.

                .. to wipe all the free space and file space of the drive using at least the DoD standard 7x random data overwrite. Format, reinstall the operating system, and then do the same overwrite again.

                A better way would be to mount the drive as a slave on another PC or laptop, overwrite, format, partition, and overwrite again.
