Do not have time for any type of learning curve...
I need this machine on Wednesday and I need to start making videos and $$ with it immediately.

no need - you can run XP, Vista in full mode on MacBook Pro

I've had several notebooks, VIAO's, Toshibas, etc..
by far the quality of the mac - screen, keyboard, sound, speed, stability, battery life, etc... is as a collective whole - much better than others, aluminum casing, built in cam, etc.. I've never had either of the 2 MacBook Pro's in the shop for any problem, not exactly the same can be said for the others I've had.

Take the tour at www.apple.com and see for yourself the quality and features of the "HARDWARE", once you use one for a while and get used to it, I am sure that you'll never regret it

why not get ILap? I use mine on the desk and sofa, etc..

i'm too cheap to spend insane money on a laptop. i'm about to buy a toshiba satellite pro a100 - with a core 2 duo processor. and i rather buy a new one after a year

If you're into Mac stuff, the Macbook Pro's are decent well-built machines in general. They do however have issues.

I would suggest taking a look at IBM/Lenovo - specifically the T series. They are better build quality in my opinion than Apple, with only Apple being in the same remote league as they are.

Simply put, once you buy a Thinkpad you'll never go back to anything else. I use a T60 as my primary machine for both day to day in the office stuff (docking station) and I also drag it all over hell and back. I work with it from an inner tube on the lake, drag it on the boat, let the kid use it from time to time, and generally abuse the living hell of out it.

Not been able to break it yet

i you gonan get a laptop make sure its dual core and the amd 64 bit turios stay away from them they overheat.

Man I'm in the same boat. I finally can go get a new kick ass laptop but I'm torn between getting a Mac because of the learning curve having to get new software etc. Or just going for that mouthwatering Acer Ferrari.

These guys specialize in gaming and high performance systems. I have one of their desktop machines.

Here is their performance laptop. Many options to choose from. It is a Core 2 Duo as has been suggested.

If you want to stay with MS get a Sony Vaio. I have an SZ that is about a year old and been super reliable. The new ones also come with a free Vista upgrade when Vista comes out. I also have a new MacBook and like it too. About the only thing I miss on a Mac is Roboform.
