Same principle applies to GM produce - by 2000 66 ish percent of all US processed food contained GM ingredients - and no labelling. Around 25% of US agricultural land is now devoted to GM crop.
Meanwhile, the vast majority of other nations have banned/restricted/required labelling. This area is not problem-free, but carries risk, some of which are unknown. One example is of excellent insect-free crop for a few years then a total fuckup with "superweeds" which take on the genes of the produce and then require far more lethal herbicides to kill off.
Totally agree - if anyone wants fake food it should be labelled fake food and priced appropriately.
