Barry Zito signs with SF Giants

The deal is $126Mil for 7 years...the largest pitcher contract in baseball history! Ballin! Too bad they lost Jason Schmidt though...

I was hoping to see the Mariners sign him, but since they didn't at least he left the AL West. Now he can haunt someone else.

As an A's fan, I'm sorry to see Barry go, but we all knew it was 100% going to happen. I think the giants will be disappointed with the return on this investment. For the last 3 years Barry has been a fairly good (nowhere approaching great) pitcher. You have to keep in mind that Oakland Coliseum is one of the best pitcher's parks in baseball, so it makes his numbers look better than they reallly are. So they're getting a solid and very durabale starter who will be 35ish at the end of the deal for HUGE money. I think they'll regret this signing.

He's not the same BArry Zito that won the Cy Young a few years back...He's had his problems the last 2 years with giving up big hits and his curve ball is still wicked when he has control of it. Will be interesting to see how he does in a league thats gonna require him to bat.
