Ive built 9 or 10 in the last few months. lol Takes about an hour and a half per box at most, then install etc another 20 mins.

I have 2 Alienware laptops and apparently an entirely different experience then you lol. First of all the first laptop I got Area 51m is a piece of garbage that overheats at the drop of a hat and the new Sentia I got has already had 3 or 4 different power issues with it which I finally got it back from Alienware after them having it for a month fixing the motherboard.

As for support, it's CRAP. Usually, I've had to spend at least 45 minutes on the phone with them since they barely understand english or what I'm trying to describe to them technically. To be fair though, the last call I had with them was only 15 minutes, but this was just to see what was going on with my system which at first I was told wasn't even there (it was).

Meanwhile..the one desktop I DID put together myself has not had a single problem in 4 years..ZERO issues. If your ever thinking of buying an Alienware LAPTOP for high end graphic design or gaming or anything DON'T, find something else their laptops are garbage for high end stuff.

**Disclaimer, I can't speak for Alienware desktops as I have never owned one can you tell I'm a bit frustrated with their laptops? ** =)

That's nuts! If you spend over $10,000 on the system, you get a different level of support (U.S.-based), from what I understand.

Although this doesn't have anything to do with your auction... I absolutely love the time period that we are living in. You can actually buy computers, complete computers, for under $200. And I'm not talking about 'pieces of shit' garage sale computers either. Fairly decent computers with a decent amount of power behind them. I remember the first computer I got was close to $4,000 and my Ti-85 calculator was more powerful than it.

On another note, paying 2-3x the price of the puter just for tech support is pretty retarded. Almost every component in a computer is easily replaced and fairly easy to diagnose. I?m not downing pre-built computers as it really does save time for many individuals (even though it only takes around an hour to assemble them) so go for it. Just don?t let them rape you up the ass on tech support that?s overpriced and sub-par.

Support hasn't been sub-par, it's been amazing. Not sure what you're talking about, I feel I got major value for my Alienware.

With all of the hijacks, though, it looks like this will have to go to eBay. Annoying, frankly, when people drive by just to disrupt a process.

You could buy the same part that's fucked up and get it 1-day fed ex'd to you for a much cheaper price than the shitty tech support that alienware offers. The chances on multiple parts going bad (and thusly actually needing a reason to pay for overpriced tech support) goes up exponentially so you would save much more money in the end by just buying a new part, getting it 1-day'd to you, then RMA'ing the old part and selling it on eBay to recoup most of your losses.

Good luck selling it on eBay at a decent price.

You know this isn't an Alienware box, and your troll is about something completely unrelated, right?

In any event, I feel I got great value for my Alienware system, thanks for your input.

Thanks. The twin of this with identical specs got offers of $2,000 on GFY, and eventually sold for $2,800 ... so it'll be good for sure.

That person got ripped off if you sold it to them for $2.8k

So offering my opinion about overpriced and sub-par tech support is trolling? The box you are selling is Falcon Northwest, which I don't think I've said anything bad about. You are the one that brought up Alienware lmao.

That’s the only thing I said in my first post. Notice how I didn’t say any names about which company. I just wanted to point out how stupid it is to pay 2-3x the price of the computer for 'tech support' that you could easily do yourself and save much more money in the end.

Shrug, they seemed pretty happy. There were a ton of bidders leading up to it, as well, so majority rules, I guess. It's worth what people will pay for. If he didn't buy it for $2.8k, someone else would have for something around that, as all bids were pretty close.

Depends on how you value your time, I suppose.

See ya on eBay.

I guess. Since all computer parts, sub motherboard and chip installation (and stuff like water cooling kits), takes all but 5 minutes... you must REALLY value your time.

Good luck with the sale regardless!

Actually its worth $124.if you weren't planning on buying and just bumping it up for your friend. Not very moral but very republican like so never mind. Also the guy selling it says he doesnt want to take a bath but in first post says if it sells for a dollar it sells for a dollar. Make up your mind lol

If you say so. I'd bet that most adults don't want to fuck around with shit like that. New Years time ... have fun!

Proof or apology. I've never even talked to Sticky on ICQ, and have only been in a few threads with him. Don't throw this kind of shit without something to back it up or an apology.

He said he started the bid so high because he liked you and then said some bullshit how the powersupply is worth 350 and he never bid again. Doesnt take a rocket scientist also I like busting his right wing balls. lol

You must be the only person who didn't think he was kidding. I know I did.

It's awesome to build and service PC's yourself, by the way:

I'll keep checking this thread for further amusement, although bidding is dead post-hijack.

wait wait. so first off, you flat out tell people you know the first bid was "bogus" yet you let people to continue to bid off that first bid?

Then you try to bash building PCs yourself because of two gfy threads? How many "Bought PC" problems you think I can find on google, shall we really try to pull that card out? Specially with the info provided in each thread - it's obvious the problem.

Your suggestion is like saying someone is at fault in a car accident because they installed their own parts. I'm still completely amazed at how you continualy try to bash building your own PC. Saying it's childish and time consuming. When, it's actually more responsible and takes less time. However you can go view it the way you want, but don't lie about it to make yourself feel better.

How was the bid bogus? I said I thought he was kidding when he explained the bid amount. Nice spin, though.

You came into this thread, without bidding, and posted nonsense about building a PC, not me. By the simple fact that you keep coming back, with no interest in the original purpose of the thread, you've show yourself to be either a troll or a hijacker.

I'd guess you're 22-24. You seem to be on GFY taking menial jobs for $100 here and $200 here. I can see why you'd bash someone who doesn't mind spending money on a pre-built PC. *shrug*

Anyway, I won't come back to this thread -- you maliciously destroyed it for everyone who bid up until this point.

If you thought he was joking, (aka made a fake bid) that would mean you thought the bid was bogus.

Not sure where you're getting your information from (or why it would have ANY relevance to this thread - besides you trying to once again suggest I'm somehow cheap?). But I offered one person a myspace layout for $200. A more basic one, and only one, to one person. Nothing for $100. Nonetheless, I never bashed you for spending money on a pre-built pc. You bashed me for building my own. Your posts attempted to belittle people who build their own PCs. By somehow assuming it's childish, for cheap asses, and people with too much time on their hands. (I can quote all your posts which you insinuate that shit). Now, why you tried to insinuate those things is beyond me. Makes no sense to bash on people because they're talented enough to build something themselves.
