If it wasn't done visibly for the entire surrounding area to notice, I don't see a problem with it.

I think it would have been silly for you to take that $20 & toss in a garbage for the sake of being politically correct when another person could easily wipe it, if it meant his/her only meal of the day. It could easily have been misinterpreted from any homeless person, but I don't think they would turn it down if it meant their only meal of the day or worse, their next fix.

If i HAD remebered to bring a hankerchief i wouldnt have had the problem and the homeless people would be out $20 during the holidays.. thats hardly a solution.. it is a possible scenario though.. and that could have happened but it didnt , its easy to speculate on scenario's that could have exisited under ideal circumstances but dont apply..

If you had been in the same scenario , your out with some people , at a nice restaurant, a few of the people you dont know very well , as your leaving a huge snotball wells up in your nose and threatens to splat all over your face.. what would you have done differently.. besides going back in time and placing objects in your pockets that arent there.. you have a nice clean sleeve , some money in your pocket , fingers and thats about it.. .

exactly.. i think alot of people look at it as if i was looking to donate some money and as an afterthought i blew my nose. this is not the case..

I would think most people should understand that there was no malice involved on my part , the fact they were there was just an afterthough , but like i said i was being honest i dropped the bill on their side on purpose so they might see it and pick it up.. but only after i had already made a plan to blow my nose on a bill and dispose of it..

Disrespecting them is basically when you do not want to keep a dirty bill in your pocket then I don?t think it is fair to give it to them all dirty. He is a person the same as yourself. My suggestion would be in this case to maybe keep the bill in your hand and wait till you are inside to wipe it clean then come back out and give it to them. I see a lot of homeless people every day and trust me if I gave each one of them money I would be broke by now.

Would you feel insulted if this had happened in reverse ? I wouldnt have and i would have taken the money and washed it off and spent it, or just taken it to mcdonalds or something bought some fries.... im a pretty stingy fellow , its strange enough for me not to keep the money as i said/.. if i hadn't been dressed up and with friends it would have never happened

i've dealt with homeless people quite a bit, and if you actually did this, i'm pretty confident in saying, you're DAMN lucky you didn't get shanked or something. the vast majority of homeless people are homeless do to mental illness and while they are broke, they do still have some pride intact and don't take well to insult. homelessness is in many cases a rebellion against the system by some severely mentally ill folk...
