Guba CEO steps down, says more execs may follow.

Quote:
Guba CEO Thomas McInerney has stepped down from the video-sharing site, marking the second executive shuffle within the sector in a week.

McInerney told CNET News.com that two other Guba executives are likely to follow him. After co-founding the company nine years ago, McInerney said the time has come for a new pursuit and to "let go."

He also spoke about how some Guba executives are re-evaluating the potential rewards of competing in a sector dominated by YouTube. Nearly half of everyone who logs on at user-submitted video sites go to YouTube, the company acquired by Google in October for $1.65 billion.

fyi: a search for Guba did not yield anything about this on GFY, so i'm sorry if this is a dupe.

They think they are competing with YouTube? There is a CEO that is completely out of touch with reality. GUBA is in the content theft business.

Very interesting development, they had signed a major deal just a few months ago with Sony to distribute their videos.

from the original article:

The company appeared to have strong links to Hollywood studios when Warner Bros. Entertainment and Sony Pictures agreed this summer to allow the company to offer their movies for download. Instead, Sony opted to acquire rival Grouper in August for $65 million.

so it looks like they blew the sony deal.

This is where the "executives" discover that trying to run a legit and legal business that isn't dependant on stealing content isn't exactly as profitable as they expected.

Maybe they can sell out to Napster and come back as a mostly ignored pay service?

Are you serious? YouTube is in the content theft business too, expect its music videos and TV shows instead of porno.

No kidding. Google has been in the content theft business for years by caching entire websites and gigs and gigs of images.
