wordpress... templates are fairly easy to hack together, and there is a ton of good plugins out there. Time from zero to blog is about the shortest of the bunch.

Downside is endless security updates... just about as often and microsoft.

takes about 2 min to upgrade wordpress so it's not that big of a problem

Like it needs to be said again -- WordPress.

There *are* competitors to it, but I just haven't seen anything with the combination of what WordPress brings to the table. Stick with it, you won't be disappointed.

WordPress is great. I switched to them after using Blogger for a little bit, which sucked ass. Would never go back and WP does all I need it to and then some.
