    online in japan?

i'm going to tokyo and outlying areas for 1 week. wondering if my sony laptop that i purchased here in the usa (last year) will be able to automatically connect to the internet in japan, or if there's some special adapter or card that i'll need to purchase? anybody know? i called the narita hilton and asked, but there was definitely a language barrier :-)

i plan on using wireless internet cafes, the hotel, and plugging in directly to ethernet at a friends' house in a small town outside of tokyo.

    all responses apprecited.

    thx,
    vi

You don't need anything special for Japan. I never stayed in the Narita Hilton but in many other hotels in Japan in the last years and I always had Internet access. Many hotels actually offer free LAN or WLAN.
