The Grateful Dead used to do annual New Years concerts here in the Bay Area (San Francisco and Oakland), and there are usually some big parties downtown in SF.
These days, I leave the New Years parties to the amateur partiers, and I party at home or at a nearby friend's house...

vegas is allright...been to New Years on the strip twice since I moved here back in 2002...and you do get tired of trying to navigate all the bullshit road blocks etc.
