I wish it did though it has maybe a 5% success rate and barely equals the same results as quiting cold turkey with zero support. Then again if it was really about quiting or getting control over the addiction they would not have problems with the chemical methods that have a much higher success rate, yet they do. Go figure.

I puke when I drink too much or take too much pain medication for my migraines so I'd suck at being an alcoholic or drug addict.

But now I'm on Lipitor and massive amounts of iron. If I get hooked on either of these, I am coming to GFY for help.

That's why I left after 1 year. AA is a stepping stone and I used it as such. I haven't drank in over 9 years. However, drugs are a different story. High-five!

Christ, cut them some slack. Generally, these are people who've hit rock bottom. They're admitting a lack of control, and they're doing it, more or less, publicly (anonymous or not, they're telling someone they don't wake up next to, "Hey, I have this weakness. I have this problem") Can't be easy. Have a heart.
