its not so far off the mark to call it adware, but not all adware is bad.. icq offers a pretty nice service for free based on ads. Im happy and i know what it does.

This isnt an exe its an mpg , it doesnt need to be uninstalled and isnt nefarious in any way. it pops one popup , its very clear where it came from.

The surfers that search there donīt want to pay but unlike Freesites on p2p they CAN find everything they want even if it is copyrighted by you so why should they join? they just search for "memebersareacontent of xxxsite.com" (easy spoken)

The method you describe doesnt work on p2p and it never worked on freesites :) if p2p had every file served up fast from every members area. i see your point , but they dont , That wiggle room is exactly what we take advantage of.. If anything the p2p just primes the surfer with content he couldnt get on a website.. making him want more.. we give them the op to pay and get it much easier.

p.s. i should have more details later today either in this thread or a new one

Scamming someone that is tring to download stolen content? hahaha... sounds like a great way to generate some traffic and help get rid of the p2p problem.

Jace 12-21-2006 10:31 AM

aren't p2p conversions horrible?

danevans 12-21-2006 10:43 AM

If you make a new thread about this - please post a link here in case we miss it.

Is this using asx files to stream the video whilst having a your website running in the backgroung that serves a popup or is it DRM where it trys to connect for a licence but the user gets a popup instead or am I completely off? Either way this sounds like a brilliant idea for the free traffics

Pimpin_J 12-21-2006 11:37 AM

You can also install most of the p2p progs on unix. So just upload your files to your server and share it through the bw of the datacenter. Makes the process much faster and you dont have to run your comp up 24/7...

Someone out there has a dynamic system that monitors searches in real-time and somehow returns hits on those searches.. whatever you download ends up being an advertisement for porn sites.

Seriously - search on something stupid like "big cock monkey porn movie" and you'll get that as a result.. try "waffle bike mudd butter" and waffle-bike-mudd-butter.jpg, .zip, .mpg exc will show up..

I just don't know how he injects the results that fast...

Vigilante 12-21-2006 12:17 PM

Something about the technical aspect:

When you add a script to a movie file somehow :

- wonīt the antiviruses be alerted and block the script?
- will this "script" work in every media player?

never saw a mpg file that was able to pop up an ad in some way though.. would be interested in seeing a sample file.

I may sound a little newbish here, but why would you want to feed a site you want to make money on with shit traffic? won't that whole shit traffic just keep feeding and the bad ratios will stay where they are?

why not just take the time and create hundreds, if not thousands, of se pages to feed the fake tgp with and get nice SE traffic?

micker 12-21-2006 01:50 PM

smokey, drop me a line, I cant seem to find you on icq or skype. I have a markov based bulk renaming tool and some other things that might work.

I cooked up a script that does it too...the problem i found with QT files is that they get downloaded far less often than other file formats.

why dont you enlighten us with your wisdom instead of just tossing lame comments out. Its already working so your wrong straight off the bat.. If you have a real question i'd be more than happy to answer , even to the whiners/haters.
Nothing i will be doing will be private , i will share the trick right here on gfy you can either choose to follow along r go your own route.

its already working. not sure why it would suddenly stop working when i share the idea. ? I dont claim to be a p2p expert so if you have some real reason this wont work , let me know and we can work around it.

From the standalone player or just the browser?

I'm just saying that in my p2p experience, far fewer people are interested in downloading QT files as opposed to other file formats.

micker 12-21-2006 04:04 PM

I havent seen that at all. My Qt videos get almost twice as many downloads as wmv's. On P2P, on the web, the opposite is true.

Scroto 12-21-2006 04:44 PM

wtf, Im curious and will try it out.

Interesting that we'd have such divergent results. If you ever want to chat about it, icq's in sig :)

Why not do both? This is one of those "set it and forget it" ideas. Takes a couple of minutes to do and brings you free traffic in return. Even if it converts at 1:5000, so what?
