Old FORD GT40 VS. new FORD GT in pics

I recently went to a historical car race at Daytona and hand the chance to photograph some very cool cars. I'm not a Ford guy but there's something about the FORD GT40 that gets me going.

The GT40 was built by ford to compete against Ferrari in the 24 Hour of Le Mans and they were successful winning Le Mans four years in a row from 1966 to 1969. In 2004 FORD brought the GT40 back to life as it began delivery of the FORD GT.

While I was at Daytona I was able to watch several GT40s race around the track but I was surprized to see someone pull up in a new yellow GT. I think Ford did a pretty good job with this awesome race car that has such a rich history. Here are a few pics to compare the old and the new.

This is the actual car that won at LeMans..
It's owned by a local Madison collector.

That's very cool.

The Ford GT is awesome. Someone on GFY owns one but doesn't seem to want anyone to know.

The gentleman that owns the GT40 here is quite an avid collector.I only visited one of his *garages* and there he had an amazing collection.
I was talking to one of his close friends about the GT40,and he told me that the owner had just recently passed on an 8 figure cash offer for it.His response was that he didn't need the money and there was only one of them.

I'm glad that there are people out there that preserve and collect cars like these. The example you've shown is amazing. I think one year at Le Mans they actually finished 1 - 2 - 3 and dominated the Ferraris as they had set out to do. It was a lot of fun to watch them run at Daytona

Sorry, i can't figure out how to quote correctly

I saw em both. The old GT at Harrods and the new one at Stansted.

Really cool cars!

They are fabulous cars but they are having HUGE reliability problems with the new one. Saw JC's "ex new one" at the MPH show in Birmingham a few weeks back and it really looked and sounded fantastic.
