I´ve got a Defender which you can´t brake down. It´s pretty much the same technique used years ago, but that´s why it´s so great. You´ll love it or hate it, there´s nothing in between. I need it because I´m living countryside, but it seems not to be available in the US any longer.
I don´t like those SUV like Land Rovers, though. -
LandRover love em or hate em they go any where (literaly)
in the uk there was a tv ad for landrover that showed a landy winching itself up the outside wall of a dam! and ofc it made it and drove away at the top
a friend owned a 2.5ltr diesel pickup model and i have seen it push a london double decker bus sideways, pull tree stumps with a girth of 2ft out of the ground, carry nearly 2 x its own weight in paving bricks (brute force and ignorence)
i have passed many on my bike travels off road, their slow but steady and can as the above advert sugested go anywhere
imho if you intend off roading in it or using it for commercial use get one, if your mainly commuting in it dont bother their basic, noisy and uncomfortable.$$$$ Video Secrets $$$$Comment

i bought range rover (98 year) about a year ago. sold it about a month ago...
gooooood car. tried to get thru any mud/snow i could find, never got stucked.. pretty comfortable...
not sure if new ones are as good as old ones.
in my country main problem about them is service... that's why i sold it and bought toyota lc100. if U live in coutry where GOOD service is not a problem - most likelly U'll love that car.... i'd suggest range rover. or defender for extreme usage :-)Premium hosting

I love the older Landies and will get one one day. A mate of mine had a series 2 Safari Edition SWB and it was the best feckin thing ever. Awesome bulletproof piece of kit!

I had a 2000 Discovery II and I loved it. It did eat a shit load of gas but would go anywhere i took it when camping. The defender is by far my favorite but they are hard to find around here. My wife on the other hand hated it because the back seat is very hard to get the kids in and out of. the bottom of the door is very small and you almost always get dirt from the tire on your pants. the back door also doesn't open up or half and half like the explorer or most SUVs ...it opens Left to right ..like a house door .. so you can't carry anything that hangs out the back .. the glass in the back doesn't open either. over all it held up very well but didn't fill all my SUV needs .. I have to say that I'm happier with my Honda Pilot.

I have a friend on her 2nd Defender and she loves it. But I know someone who had a Range Rover and HATED IT.
I looked at the LR5 (I think that's what it's called) and the reports on it didn't look promising. I wouldn't have minded so much if the nearest dealership wasn't 70 miles away.
I ended up with the Jeep Grand Cherokee Hemi. I love it and if you're not going to go offroad, get the SRT8.
The BEST thing to me was being able to go "Land Rover School". But it's funny - my friends have said you sign a disclaimer that says they aren't responsible for any damages to your car, but they'll fix it at discount. VERY clever way to get another income stream ;)Comment

BTW, if you're looking for something solid that you're going to be using offroad A LOT, the Landcruiser gets my vote.Comment

yes, it was working at any condition... yes, it's easy to serve... but only when there's a station where U can serve it.... but when U come to service station with 1 small prob and then go out with few big - that's not what i want from my car.... i ain't got time to visit service few times a week :-)Premium hosting
