Is 50% signup and 25% recurring OK?

I'm new to recurring so I want to know if a sponsor pays 50% for all signups and 25% recurring commissions for every member who stays on as members is that good/the norm or can I do a lot better? It looks like a good sponsor.

I've always done per signup and want to try recurring.

look for at least 50/50 revshare (that's 50% sign up and 50% recur) ...

Many sites will even offer 60/40 revshare..

We had this discussion at least once before.

Some people think 60/40 means I get 60% of all sales for life.

Some people think 60/40 means I get 60% of initial signup and 40% of recurring.

To me it means 60% for me, 40% for the affiliate program, forever.

I guess there are programs that work it differently, but I would stick with the ones that give you a higher percentage for a long time, all other factors being equal.

if a program converts well and only offers 25% its better then a program that converts nada and gives 70%

Its all about conversion if all you care about is how much percent get ready to promote a bad converting program becuse they give you 70% etc.

Find a good converting program and make it work for you too

That's only true if you literally mean "nada". The reality is that a program paying 25% is going to have to convert a hell of a lot better, I mean way better, to make it worth pushing that program over a 75% program. It's not a small difference in the conversion ratio.

There are some niches still where you sort of have to take whatever they give you, and in those cases, you are right. It's better to have something than nothing, but then again, you should look at that traffic and see if it may be better off somewhere else that's willing to pay more, even if it converts worse.

To tell the truth, I pretty much agree with you, but I felt like arguing anyways because the board is slow right now.

50% is a good deal if you get tons of free content and other promo stuff.
60% is ok
over 70% should make you suspicous, check out the member area out first.... why should someone give so much $$ away? Those programs normally do not expect a good retention, but try to upsale their members straight away!

50% initial - 25% recurring seems too much of a bad deal, though, but like some people mentioned, there might be some advantages, often amateur sites with extreme exclusive content and cams offer this, and sometimes the retention rates are awsome.

the best thing is: try the deal, try other deals and compare!
