Obama, our nation's 50th president?

Matt Frackas 12-12-2006 11:22 AM

at least he can complete a sentence.

:)

BigCashCrew 12-12-2006 11:34 AM

He has no history in politic. It will be interesting to watch but I don't think he will win. If the Democrats only have Obama and Clinton to offer, I don't think I will be giving the Democrats a 2nd thought when it comes to election day.

That's actually a plus in my book. It means he hasn't had to sell himself out for years to get to where he is and he doesn't owe everyone and their brother favors for being voted into political career building goverment positions.

The sad thing is, there is ALREADY a law that will allow him to stay in office.

BradM 12-12-2006 12:30 PM

Issues in Barack becoming president:

1. Black
2. Hussein

Americans won't go for it.

pocketkangaroo 12-12-2006 12:39 PM

I think he has as good of a chance as anyone. If you throw out the racist voters (which it appears some post here), he would probably win. There isn't a real strong Republican candidate in the picture yet, so you never know.

It'll still come down to Bush though. Right now there is a lot of anti-Bush, anti-Republican sentiment in the country. If that continues for 2 more years, I don't know how any Republican will be able to win the Presidential election unless he is very moderate.

so funny how the GOP tells everyone to start saying Obama's full name, with the emphasis on 'HUSSEIN' and now all you right-wing freedom hating sheep are doing it with pride...

PRIDE in your sheepdom!

you are clueless

Obama would make a decent candidate, but not for 2008. Maybe 2016 since it is obvious with the train of thought on GFY that the Republicans will win again in '08, which means most likely in '12 also.

Purely for selfish reasons of my own - it would be nice to have a viable candiate for the Libertarian party so more people would stand up and take notice of it instead of making everything about Democrats and Republicans.

Yeah, I figured that out later on, and figured you would respond like this, and I would say, "sorry, my bad."

Sorry, my bad.

Perot . . . .

After Shock Media 12-12-2006 05:41 PM

Few things to consider, although I do not think Obama is ready yet myself.

The church voters are a wee bit upset with Republicans. Obama can gather many of these up.
Clinton won due to the black vote, Hillary would need the black vote. The black vote would however go with a black man who stood a chance.

kane 12-12-2006 06:29 PM

It will matter a lot who runs against him. I personally think he will be Clinton's Vice Presidential nominee. Clinton will need to really draw in the minority vote and Barak and Bill will help her do that.

To those that think he can't win because he is unknown and has no record or experience you are wrong. Bill Clinton was pretty much a unknown when he ran and he won. George W Bush was pretty much unknown to those outside of Texas. He had name recognition, but his dad was not a very popular president. When Bush was the governor of Texas the state was ranked second to last in air quality and ranked in the bottom five in quality of education, unemployment rates and economy. And he got elected.

In many cases not having a record can help because they don't have a long voting record to hold against you.

The bible thumpers and racists aren't going to vote for any democrat regardless of race or sex. Right now the religious right is feeling like they were wronged by the repubs, they will need a solid candidate to get them back. Obama may not be able to get all of them, but they may not be as big of a threat as they were 8 years ago.

Too young and not enough experience. He'd make a great vice president though.
Plus senators have a bad track record of getting elected.

BlackCrayon 12-12-2006 07:44 PM

he'll never get in on the name alone not to mention how much racism still lingers, especially in the south.

tony286 12-12-2006 07:49 PM

MY thoughts first his middle name is not hussein and he is christian. Secondly rudy is going to have a rough time, he was a pretty sucky mayor before 911 also he fucked around alot and has been divorced.

Anyway, no point to discuss with you ... Hope yoyur Denis Miller becomes president of the US of A ... :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

Note: stay in your Edus whatever threads: they fit you like a glove....

I actually think Giuliani is a good candidate. He is fiscally conservative yet socially liberal. He will probably be as moderate as it comes on the election ballot.

He'll never win because the nut bags on the far right can't stand the fact that he actually views homosexuals as human beings.

I've never heard of him beating his wife. Can I get a link? I've read a lot about him but never seen that anywhere. I know he cheated on his 2nd wife.

I'm pretty sure that is his middle name. It doesn't matter, but a lot of guys like Limbaugh have nothing else to grasp at. He has little to no legislation under his belt to judge him by, and his popularity has to be a concern to those type of people.
