Photographers on this forum, what do you think of Canon 5D

I'm pondering. Thinking of getting a full frame camera (currently own 30D). Ideally, I'd pay for a 1Ds MkII sized the same as the 5D but there isn't such a camera. Some say there will be 5D MkII (or 6D, next year, weather sealing to protect from dust being the biggest issue currently with the 5D)

What do you think, 5D now or wait a year

Nothing comes close to the 1ds Mark II, but it does get heavy holding it while shooting. But that said the 30d is a great camera and i would hold out till the next generation of the 1ds comes out

What type of content are you planning on shooting with it?

It would be safe to say that 99% of all websites do not emplor the power of the 5D in RAW format, better less anything of higher quality.

I would wait for either the 5D to get to around $2000 or wait for its replacement.

BTW What lenses do you have?

Personally, I'd be going for the 1DsMII - simply because it's a much more solid and pro camera.

That said - the 5 does rock - and is lighter.

Don't play the 'but this model will be released soon' game. The 6D will come. The 1DsMIII is very close to release too - grab what suits your shooting style best - they're both amazing cameras.

I have 30D with EF 24-70mm f/2,8 L USM lens and it's a good camera. AS for me I would wait for 6D, i think it will have a Digic III processor and i hope it is better than Digic II that 5D has.

I have the 20D and recently bought the 5D, the 5D is allot better, colors seem brighter, just all around a nicer camera in my opinion.

Depends on what you are gonna shoot with it. If it's just for web content, you're fine with the Rebel XT.
