    Why devoted religious people are so fucking dumbs?

    I still can't figure it out..

    Why those people want to restrict their life and other's too so badly based on a book full of shit that "promise" them than if they follow all the rules they'll go to heaven and then WHAT?
    What the fuck are they gonna do in that so called Heaven?
    Eat lot of chocolate? Watch the birds? Talk to Jesus and God about the meaning of life? Sing all the time songs about love? Have homosexual intercourse? Eating souls of aborted fetus? Commit incest with their ancestors? Play with their own shit throwing at them like snowballs?
    Or they'll still harass more souls of people from different cults with their flawed ideology?

    Those fucktards 500 years ago were slaving the society taking profit from the ignorance of the people and take themselves like they were "messengers" from God.

    Look at Scientology, Universal Church, etc...

                                                  a lack of belief is just as much a belief as believing in a God. there are many sheep and corrupt people that go down the religious path for the wrong reasons. but i do applaud those that go down that path and do things for the right reasons. religion has changed many peoples lives for the better.

                                                  you can look through history and see all the killing that has been done in the name of God, but if we weren't killing for God, you can bet there would of been some other cause. it has been in our nature for a very long time, don't blame it all on religion.

These people have been brought up for some or all of their lives getting a virtual swat on the nose if they go outside of the boundries of their religeous group.

                                                                                          Not enough swearing, a good attempt at lots of spelling errors but you needed more obviosu typo's.
                                                                                          Maybe a diagram done in paintshop might have helped?

                                                                                              There are two types of religious people. Those who "give it up to God" in everything they do, and those who try to take control themselves and then accept the outcome whatever it may be.

                                                                                              The first one is usually the evangelical. Not all Christians are evangelical though. In fact the "regular" ones sometimes think the evangelicals are a bit nutty.

                                                                                              A family friend of ours recently inherited about $50,000. To make a long story short she was scammed out of $30,000 of it that she thought she was investing. They guy took the money and ran. Her response was "If God didn't want me to have that money, then why was it left to me?" I can't say for sure, but there is a pretty good chance that she was thinking that when she decided to invest it and thus had all the confidence in the world in this guy.

                                                                                              It's not that the super devoted religious people are stupid. It just seems to me that through religion they sometimes don't see danger or see too much danger in other things.

                                                                                                  religion is a crutch for the weak of mind. there are alot of people out there who just can't figure anything out for themselves. they aren't strong enough to decide for themselves whatr is right or wrong, or what path to take in their life. i don't have a problem with someone following whatever path the choose, so long as the don't get preachy. the fact that it is a point in christianity to 'spread the word of god' surely isn't going to save us any from that though. they will always be out there hunting to recruit the weaker willed. if thats what they need so be it. but i will call them on their weakness if presented with a viable reason to...

                                                                                                                          I grew up in an evangelical household. It's scary and ridiculous. My 96 year old grandma doesn't have enough money to go have breakfast with her eldery girlfriends because she tithes to the mega church and then gives the rest to the televangelists. I personally don't believe that's what God would want for her.

We all are. Over the course of history, people's beliefs, values, and goals (religious and non-religious) have dramatically shifted. For example, our ambitions to grow wealth. Only with an empowered middle class is that even possible. Now, we all drive the same cars, eat the same shit, and like the same things as everyone else does. From culture to culture, we get imbued with the lifestyles of those around us, and adopt them not only as our own, but as truth. I don't believe in God, but I recognize my own following hypocrisy. It's almost impossible to avoid. It's to our evolutionary advantage to figure out the standard and adapt to it, to gather information from our environments to best thrive in it. Unfortunately, this cognitive ability leaves us with the weakness of impressionability in the face of misinformation. When you're raised from a young age to believe certain things, you form a world picture in which your consciousness resides every day, constantly reinforced. Religion provides an unfalsifiable and systematic explanation for how things are, building on a lot of human hopes and worries; wanting "purpose", an afterlife, an explanation. All to say, religion gets into people through the very same ways that all of our other sometimes silly beliefs come in, only those people are willing to trust without proof more, which I know I'm not capable of. The human brain is more malleable than we think; we have less free will than we think. Cults provide an extreme example (where the conditions of influence as so exaggerated as to speed up the brainwash process, for example at some initial "retreats" where potential recruits are subject to insufficient nourishment, no time alone, not enough sleep, etc.)
