Fan Signs For Affiliates Only ???

I was just reading a thread about Medium Pimpin Fan Signs and the issues was raised about Fan Signs for Non Affiliates and this rule

4. There cannot be any conditions to making a sign, such as you must signup for an affiliate program.

I did not know about this rule. I am currently running a fan sign thread and will do all requests, but I really think that it is wrong that a non affiliate should get a fan sign.

If you?re not promoting the program, why in hell do you need a fan sign, is it just to show your friends how cool you are or to show your mom and dad that you have finally made it.

Seriously, what are your thoughts, why does a non affiliate deserve a fan sign if they are not promoting you

pointless for a non affiliate to have one unless they are signing up for the program.

those rules were made when programs/girls would come on saying they were going to make signs and then never make them.

I do understand your argument that the person should at least be a affiliate.

I think that with fansigns, it is a way for the girl making them to get some free publicity and hopefully make some new webmaster fans/signups but it shouldn't be mandated that you be an affiliate of theirs. If you wanted to make fansigns for just your affiliates, why not promote the fansigns in your own affiliate area and let them sign up for them there?

i agree the person asking for the fansign should have to post their affiliate ID with their fansign request...that makes much more sense

Fansigns usually get me to sign up for a program. Think of it as a promotion.
I don't have the time to learn about every solo site on the internet.

right, but the point is about webmasters that just want the fansigns and aren't going to be using them for promotion of that girl

basically a non-affiliate wanting a fan sign for whatever reason

Well, most of them watermark the image, so assuming that the person doesn't remove the watermark, the girl should get type-ins even if the pic isn't linked. Like spacedog said though, I've had girls make me a fan sign, and if I don't promoter her, I link it to her site anyway.

Of course that's a moot point now. I've became such a money hungry bastard that I join every affiliate program I can. lol

I think generally that fansigns should only be given to affiliates. Maybe just make them only available in the affiliate area of your site and bingo - new affiliates.

I think if they are offered here, or on any other board they should be offered to anyone.

If you want to give them to affiliates, put them inside your webmaster area.

My thoughts are that if someone is not going to promote a website why would I want to give them a fan sign.....I would if they bought a membership....and was a real fan.

I just dont see the point of doing them for non affiliates, if your not going to promote the site, there is no need for you to have one

I get your argument. I originally had the same and many other arguments the day the fan sign rules were enacted.

What it boiled down to was lensmans board, lensmans rules.
They are getting free publicity and increased board presence on GFY for no advertising costs. Most go 2-3 pages at least.
To many were getting people to sign up and then never delivered. Now they just forgo getting people to sign up and do not deliver.

I will often ask for signs from girls I am not currently promoting. Odds are I will join her program if she delivers the signs. If not for some reason, like using third party software or whatnot (no diss against 3rd party software) with a program I am not yet part of, I will just direct link them. Specially since due to how I rotate them, and the type of site it is on. I typically would never reach a minimum payout.

I however at least use them. Either affiliate linked or direct linked. With some requests you can tell they never would be used regardless.

One thing is for sure though, lack of delivery means never going to be promoted by me.

If you only want your affs to have a fansign...then perhaps you should just mail them?

i thought fansigns were to encourage webmasters to join your program, I know I like to join programs if the companies can deliver nice signs... it shows they work hard for their affs...

It also stands out to me like a red alert 'dont go near' warning when fansigns arent delivered.

If theyre only going to affs, then theres no need for them to be mentioned on the board...Many programs do just that. If you want the publicity..play by the rules.

Not that I have a problem with signing up to new places at all..

(though i guess it is annoying when i spot a few real webmasters not getting their signs done and folk like squishypimp getting tonnes of 'em!)

Interesting ideas, but I would have thought that the whole idea of a fan sign was to have something personalised to help with promotions.

Forgive me but I thought that GFY's slogan was "Where the industry meets".

Or is this not an industry board?

well, something personalised to help with promotions can be in the affiliate area can't it? You know where all the other promo materials are...

I just think if they're using the board to promote their program they should play by the rules or be paying for the promo..

If a girl decides to do a fansign post here it is because she wants new webmasters to be "aware" of her program. So she is basically promoting her affiliate program free (therefore getting something in return already), and so she offers it to everyone. Which is fair. Some will join her program, some won't, some will link to her and some will not but the watermark on the pic gives her publicity. That's how things go. Whether or not the people requesting fansigns are affiliates doesn't matter as she will gain something through the effort.

If she wants to offer them to affiliates "only" then do so in your webmaster area, or broadcast an email to all affiliates the way pussycash does.

This is a forum for "All" webmasters who promote all adult programs. It doesn't make any sense to offer them here unless they are for all.

I agree. I know it takes time to make the signs but what's the big deal really? Besides, you never know how many people may joiin or promote you just becasue you were cool to them in the past.

here is an idea

how about when a program gets ready to fan signs posts on the boards that people can request fan signs in the affiliate area of the program

then when the affiliate gets into the backend of the affiliate area they are met with a nice little form that has options asking what girl, what the fan sign should say, etc.....

then you can announce on the boards, but only affiliates will request them

I don't agree that fansigns should only be produced for someone that proves they are an affiliate first and I've often signed up to promote a model only after I've gotten a fansign. However, I do agree that for a non affiliate to use a fansign for their own purposes with no benefit to the model is unfair.

I agree thats why we only make them by request for affiliates.
The rule should be changed if you do not promote the program you have no need for a fan sign pure and simple.
Also that way they can pick a theme that works for their page, tockings, garters, nude, bikini etc.
This weekend we are shooting Xmas themes.
