Not any answer to my ICQ's, no respond on emails, nothing ! Do NOT purchase anything from them, i'm sure there are much better designers around who DO provide support & service after purchase.. seems i'm not the only one having problems, they even don't deliver their templates, just do a search on GFY !

Slow response, or shitty support, or code error is not a "scam". :2 cents:

Customer support at most places sucks... But they aren't a scam.

You always get what you pay for.

Very unhappy here.

What do you mean no response? I attached the themes and emailed them to you as soon as I got your email address.

stef_girls18 12-04-2006 12:55 PM

They have a pretty good reputation

czarina 12-04-2006 12:57 PM

Guys, instead of trying to figure out what is going on, I will do the following:

First, APOLOGIZE for any issues that you may have had getting in touch with us.
Second, I will dump those email addresses and the form on the site. Please contact me at the email address czarina (at) xlabor.com instead.
Third, I'm downloading trillian to avoid any issues with ICQ.

Last: If you have had a problem or any sort of issue with Xlabor, please get in touch with me, and I will take care of it, RIGHT NOW. And, I will do whatever it takes to make you HAPPY.

That's horseshit. I have NEVER gotten an ICQ reply from you. I have sent a few messages using the form on the xlabor site too and have never received a response. The only way I ever get anything out of xlabor is to contact APC Dave and he gets shit squared away relatively quickly.

Good. I hope it will prevent future miscommunication.

Babaganoosh 12-04-2006 01:07 PM

http://www.perldesk.com/
and
http://phplivesupport.com/

are the only ways to fix this issue. ICQ has been garbage for a long time. It will piss off webmasters when you stop offering ICQ support but it beats having threads like this. Perl Desk will issue ticket numbers and track responses to the tickets so neither party can claim that the other hasn't responded.

PHP Live Support is a live chat that runs on your server. It will save logs and works every time. If your client has a browser, they can use it.

bl4h 12-04-2006 01:42 PM

cool i get to complain about xlabor. I ordered templates, but i do not feel they were worth the money. The service was good. I ordered and got it via email fairly quickly. When loaded into worpress it looks just like it did in the screenshot before i ordered.

However, the html is shit. It isnt compliant. Theres all kind of shit hard coded that you have to rip out (links and other various things). Its html 0.1 or some shit. Took me a few hours to get it converted over to valid xhtml. I dont know why they dont do this themselves.

Anyway, i could have build the design with the time i spent fixing it. Hope this criticism leads to better

baddog 12-04-2006 01:45 PM

xlabor has been nothing but good as far as I am concerned

yeah, and we all know how reliable ICQ is :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

czarina 12-04-2006 01:49 PM

thanx, babaganoosh. We will get the ticket system, it should be better than having these issues.

czarina 12-04-2006 01:49 PM

and.... thank you baddog. you're such a nice doogie :)

hey man.. i posted on some threads here a few days ago if you still do support for old theme but it seem ignored. i tried contacting you on icq to get some help. didn't get an answer.. sent you messages almost 2 weeks ago i think.. not a big deal though...

although, the support was great and helpful when dave is around. im sure he is very very very busy so he haven't check the problem with my template.. xlabor isn't a scammer in my book!!!

chartgraves 12-04-2006 01:57 PM

I read this thread right as I have their site open looking to purchase a template - lol .... Luckily as I read through the thread instead of quitting after the first 10 posts I see that support is better now that someone else is running it - So I continue browsing their site in hopes to find a perfect template!

Gabriel 12-04-2006 02:58 PM

Hardly a scam, growing pains maybe?

Weg purchased a custom template back in may, they had it done within 3-4 days. Dealt with Dave and had no problems at all and we are happy.

sicone 12-04-2006 03:02 PM

Nothing but good experience's in my dealings with xlabor

dooglas 12-04-2006 03:09 PM

I haven't had any problems with them. Quality service all the time.

Ace_luffy 12-04-2006 03:24 PM

oh my... i hope XLABORs solve the problem

goodluck xlabor!

Machete_ 12-04-2006 03:29 PM

They arent scammers as far as I know, but they are sucky outsourcing company like the rest.

Bottom line: You get what you pay for, and you pay for what you get

SomeCreep 12-04-2006 04:09 PM

This thread is disappointing, especially since I was thinking of buying some themes from xlabor.

You cite the thread but it appears as though you did not read the thread. :2 cents:

fris 12-04-2006 04:57 PM

xlabor used to be good, its gone down hill now

Sosa 12-04-2006 04:59 PM

I have no had one problem with them. Support has been top notch also.

Wiggles 12-04-2006 06:11 PM

i had no problem with my support questions getting answered.

aztecboi2003 12-04-2006 06:22 PM

Xlabor's not a scam at all. I order a template from them and Czarina was very helpful and had it uploaded for me the next day. Everytime I need to reach her by icq she's been there.

This thread is GFY typical. There are lots of negative and positive comments. In order to form an opinion, you need to know which comments are merely "friends/political/kiss ass", and which are real opinions from ordinary-everyday webmasters who have used the service. In this thread, the comments that are real are the ones citing neglected support/emails and outsourced labor. From what I can tell, everything else is bullocks.

i read the first thread and i therefore conclude that only those big and known webmasters are they keep caring for. sorry for lowlife and always broke webmaster out there like me, you're rarely get attention from them. :2 cents:

SlamDesigns 12-04-2006 09:02 PM

Well, I have never had any problem with XLabor (since Czarina has taken over), and I am far from being a "big and known webmaster". She always answers my ICQ messages immediately if she's on, and within a couple hours if she isn't.

If I do have one complaint with XLabor, it's what someone else mentioned earlier...the hard coding of some parts of the themes. I like to throw the theme in the theme directory, and then control everything (links, categories, etc.) from the control panel. You have to do a little modifying before you can do that with their themes...and I never have got that fucking CrazyPink one to work...but other than that I have no complaints with XLabor, Dave, or Czarina.

Okay, you want experience from an everyday webmaster that used them?

I can't go into specifics, but I gave them a very detailed writing project. I am not an easy guy to write for, I know that. Czarina and Xlabor nailed it quickly. They will be a major part of our latest venture.

that is by far the best part of this thread.

you guys rely on photoshop's built in slicing to produce wordpress templates that you expect to be usable?

I do agree with that also. Who the fuck uses PS to create HTML? Damn!

Myst 12-05-2006 12:11 PM

typical..

bdld 12-05-2006 12:18 PM

there's a difference between being scammers and just not knowing how to run a business.

bellybuttonlint 12-05-2006 12:29 PM

Scammers in my book.

If im in a store, and a store is advertising a certain product i am looking for....and they claim to have it.....and i purchase it....and i come to find out that the pack of smokes i bought, was filled with ciggs from a zillion other brands....im supposed to accept the fact that i have to drive back and get another pack? or drive back to let them know so they can tell me come back 5 months from now when its in stock? or drive back to find the store is closed?

SCAM.

starpimps 12-06-2006 03:22 PM

not a scam but support sucked when i bought stuff from them (when james was around). Not too sure about now, im looking for a custom blog designer and probably will pay alittle more for better support because it took 2 weeks to get a template, i cant imagine how long a custom design would take. Anyways haven't done business with them in months and i cant say how support is now with czarina.
