Want to work in Costa Rica? IwantU.com is hiring!

It's that time again - business is ROCKING and we have way more ideas than people...so it's time to hire some more people

We are looking for senior programmers/project managers to join us in-house in our Costa Rican office. We will cover your relocation and fix you up with an apartment for the length of your contract, as well as help you fit in with the country and people.

What we are looking for:

- Strong PHP/MySQL experience
- Ability to manage a team
- Ability to work under deadlines/pressure
- Sense of teamwork
- Decent English skills

Not required, but definite assets:

- Spanish
- Loves to drink and party

If you think you have what it takes, hit me up on ICQ at 520468 or by email at varius AT manacr.com

Good luck

Do you need someone that tells everyone else what to do? Or maybe just someone hang out and tell all the other employees that they are doing a great job?

How long is the contract for? Are there possibilities of being taken on as a full-time employee?

There is - I'm one. There are at least ten GFY regulars operating from Costa Rica here - WarChild, he-fox, Fris and of course, the IWantU team.

Good luck on getting the right person Keith!

Hot and tempting offer, but the he-fox is heading south in march... besides this, i will never-ever work for anybody, even if it's IWantU, on of the best company's out there.

The guy/girl who will take this chance, will have the time of his/her life here. Pura Vida

There is more than one available opening as well....we're looking for at least 1 who can handle the project manager role, and then those as well who may only want to be a senior programmer and not worry about managing others.

Luckily us Canadians don't even need to hide, long as we declared non-residency to Canada any money we make here we can bring back no problems

For you Americans, there are a lot of 'loopholes' and methods that many lawyers here are familar with setting up

Not a good idea crockett

Annual filings are still required, irrespective of where ya may live - BUT, there is approx $70K allowance for foreign residency.

It is also fair to say that any funds brought into the country from "whatever sources" is not taxable in Costa Rica - think on it

Scratch the programming knowledge requirement (I can do everything else on the list and then some), kick in a six figure salary and I'm there.

Can sure see your point man

Prob involves some major action and can be complex, depending on the obstacle course which others may wish to pursue. Also depends what you want to do etc and whether the effort is worth it.

Just off the cuff, it suggests relinquishing citizenship and taking up another (possibly in CR, Panama or a Euro country) where there are no problems with foreign residency and no applicable taxation in the "home country".

One of the poss main problems may be if you are a US citizen resident abroad - there is a check with IRS records when it comes to passport renewal and a passport may be delayed until a resolution is found with the IRS. (Not sure they can refuse a passport if you are a US citizen, but chances are you may get the indictment papers along with it )

It may be a clue to speak with a US trained lawyer not resident in the US with some experience of these problems. Can think of some qualified lawyers who may be worth chatting with if this could help - tho who knows if they will find an actual solution.

About 10 minutes outside San Jose, in San Pedro. Near all the universities

I'd love to be on the beach instead, but it would be harder to hire employees there than in the city, and no one would ever want to do any actual work
