close to 200K in late 2003.

90% of that wasn't even my own traffic - it was referrals

Sure.. and it's prob not wise to deal with only one or two sponsors. Flipside is as you say, sponsors are ten a penny now and it's a matter of isolating 95% of them and concentrating on the more stable, potentially longer term sponsor partners.

Another aspect is the flipping from one sponsor to another - it's something I'd not dream of after having dumped a fair amount of investment and time into a sponsor program by developing series of original creatives geared towards promoting whatever program. (One sponsor has just taken two guys five months work on creatives and integrating this into a network - OK, it was complex, but still costs money and time). Think ya have to select carefully - then stick to whatever sponsor/s and make em work.

We kinda treat sponsor stuff as incidental (basically, somewhere else to throw traffic when we are finished with it) - but it's still a relevant part of the biz and worth treating seriously.

Only my - it's worth however long it takes to carefully select sponsors, then go to work seriously developing marketing methods/creatives. It's not uncommon to have total crap promo from a sponsor (don't they know any better? Higher profile names are prob the worst) and rehashing the base niche and representing it - can be very profitable.

PS Another issue - program owners often have little more biz ability than the average webmaster, - they can't be trusted to keep their own side running and solvent, then disappear owing funds. As a core thing, it's prob a clue to organize sponsor promo in such a way as it can be changed over a number of networks/servers fairly quickly.

Its from an aggregator, yes. 90% of the sales came from 2 unique products (2 merchants).

$3k with a very underpromoted CCBill sponsor, that was a couple years ago though.. I don't like to put too many eggs in one basket unless they really convert THAT well for me.

This thread is pretty motivational. Usually stuff like this is filled with fluff, but I'm pretty confident in a few of the numbers that have been posted.

Mine is about $3k.

Mine was honest. I have to admit that year and the following were the best years I've ever had in any business. I used those tax returns to apply for a mortgage and was approved for just an absurd amount. I explained to the borrower that it was VERY unusual for me to make that kind of money and to PLEASE not tell my RE agent the amount I was approved for since I didn't want to spend more than $180K on a house

I have 3 main sponsors that all 3 do approx 8-12k a month, then about 4 smaller ones that all do 2-4k each. It's not to shabby if you ask me, heck I'm a happy camper with it.
