We all want to do well in this business, and so what I do is scout out good potential webmasters for my program. Do I use a standard form-type letter for the initial contact? Sure I do... and I also include personal information about myself so that anyone I contact can easily contact me back, if they are interested.
However I make sure to find out who I am dealing with, but then again, if they're using half a dozen different nic-handles everywhere, it gets tough to know exactly who is who 100% of the time.

In this case, it's called pro-active marketing, and I'm not justifying myself to anyone on the board about it.

If someone thinks it's spam, then they don't have a clue. So keep the flames coming, add me to your sig, whatever.... It's all good exposure for me, and bad exposure for them.

I dunno man, I'm not here to argue, but I don't buy the whole "recruit" deal. When you recruit people, you go for possible prospects, not someone who has nothing to do with your program. The U.S. army doesn't recruit Canadians for a reason. So why would a teen sponsor recruit someone who deals solely in ethnic?

My point is, I'm always nervous to email someone about something I genuinely think they'd be interested in, because they may cry spam. Please don't get me wrong, I never send out group or impersonal emails and I only send things to people if I've seen them posting about something that relates to what I'm doing.

These days I'm seeing less and less things as actual spam. And I believe spam is something that's here to stay.

It's a gray area for me and an interesting debate.

yeah THAT'S not spam... If i went thru the board and got email addresses of people I knew and would genuinly be interested in it,then I wouldnt see a problem... but they harvested emails from the board,I can guarantee that... that's spam,no way around it

I mean TDF doesnt have his email address present anywhere associated with his name...but he probably posted it on the board one day and it JUST got harvested...there was no targetting by these fools
