In an age when CGI is commonplace, this makes the commercial all the more extraordinary. Every single frame was shot over two days - with the main sequence involving a 23-man camera crew and only one chance to get it right.
An entire block was closed off and special compressed-air cannons shot the balls into the air, while earth moving equipment poured thousands down the street. Not that you'd know it from the finished product, but these balls can do some damage, so all the cars were props and crew members went so far as to having protective shields and crash helmets.
But when you get it right, you get it right. The goal at the beginning was to deliver a "really simple, visual celebration of colour". We think you'll agree the results speak for themselves.Comment

Uhm how about showing ACTUAL FUCKING FILM FOOTAGE and compare that? Instead of a bunch of bouncing colored balls? How do balls equate to colors? How do bouncing balls equate to anything but fucking bouncing balls? If commercials exist to sale a product then at least EXPLAIN your fucking product. What makes your TV marginally different than the others? All the bouncing ball commercial made me think is “wow, maybe if Sony had put the money it cost them to make that commercial into developing better batteries instead of the junk they sold Dell, Apple, and other companies, maybe they wouldn’t have had to spend billions in recalling them!”Comment

not really, the awards and viral-ness of them has gotten them far more exposure than any cgi shit would have
hell, I would have cared less if they did CGI.....oooo wow, someone else can work a computer....but they did the real deal, and the videos are so viral right now because of it...pure genius advertising
