If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle. -Sun Tzu - The Art of War

Hey You, I haven't talked to you in a long time!

My father was a pro touring musician when I was growing up in the mid-late 70's so I saw his bands MANY times at local bars / clubs / parties.

I saw a shitload of acts in Philly locally since my dad knew everyone at the time and being a kid of a band member got you into places that normally you had to be 21 to get into. I had a blast and got to drink all the soad I could handle, lol ......

1st Arena concert - Elton John in 82/83?? ... my mom loved him and I had no choice but to go since Dad passed on going with her.

1st with out parents: Genesis in 1987. They were pretty popular then on the Invisible touch tour.

Since then my favorites:
- John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers in 95 ( I got to meet john post show, he's VERY english and super cool )

- Eric Clapton: Nothing but the blues tour in 1995

- Eric Clapton: Pilgrim tour / and the 2004 tour.

- Monsters of Rock 1987 at JFK in Philly. Metallica were just about to release "and justice for all" ... Van Hagar was the closer ... they really sucked to be honest.

Best act on Monsters - The Scoropions. They rocked the fucking house like no other even thou I wasnt a big fan at the time.

and of course Live Aid in 1985.

Wiggles 12-01-2006 12:40 PM

sadly green day haha, they were just coming out when i was 14.

PornExcellenceAlison 12-01-2006 12:45 PM

Mine was Green Day too! In a basement a block away from my house. Must have been 1991? Also 14. It was actually an awesome show. Very high energy.

Negative....first off, its spelled Crue..secondly, the only time Motley Crue toured with Ozzy was in 1984. If you saw Ozzy's "Bark at the Moon" tour in 1984, Jake E. Lee was on guitar. Randy Rhodes died 3-19-82.

ok, first off, i could be wrong about Crue, that is what i remember i was like 11 or 12, my cousin took me to the concert, and i had been to more concerts then i could remember in the 80's, but when i saw Ozzy in the early 80's (81, 82) Randy was alive and there, it may have been with Def Leppard, not sure.

And second i know it is spelled "crue", it is called typing fast while working :disgust

You may recoil but I saw him this year and was impressed. Took the wife as she is a fan and I wasnt overly looking forward to it but even I had to admit he was good.

Only thing was he had this black all in one thing on and looked like Dark Helmet where he is so small.

fuzebox 12-04-2006 10:42 AM

I'm pretty sure the first was Everclear, Marcy Playground, and Fastball in 97 or 98... (Who remembers those :1orglaugh). That sorta opened the door and I started going to concerts every few weeks after that, but I'm pretty sure that was the first.
