i had the flu but that was last week and just for a day and a half. no congestion, just body pain and fever.

all okay now. just took some paracetamol. usually works for me

If you've got any hard liquor, swish a tiny bit around in that part of your mouth. Numbs it for a minute or two...

Clove oil, if you can get it, makes a nice anaesthetic as well and reputedly kills the nerve in the damaged tooth to stop the pain permanently. (I'd still get it pulled, of course).

my gf gave it to me last week (no, not THAT)...5 days of dayquil, antibiotics and cough syrup, and now prednisone to get rid of the cough...and i'm finally functional again...
